I met John and his wife Pauline Collins on a cruise in December 2005 around Fiji I am a solid 6ft 1 ( 186 cm ) and John back then was slightly taller than me … closer to 6 ft 2 I appreciate that’s nearly 18 years ago but solid information.

Watching him in Tales of the Unexpected now, from about 40 years ago. At first rekindled memory over 6ft . I'm voting for 6 ft 1 as a guess.... he's sat on a bed and one scene and he's more long bodied than long legged, but although I initially thought 6 ft 1.5, on the bed he doesn't look any taller than 6 ft 1.

John didn't half look tall in the play I saw yesterday, I can tell you. When I saw 185cm for him, I said, "Easily!"
Does he really go back to the 'Please Sir?' days? He must have been very young then. I used to watch it with my Mum and I wouldn't understand why she was laughing! I must have been 7 or 8.

Editor RobIn his prime I can believe he was over 6ft, he generally seemed quite tall in his earlier career.
