Tavy@ from what i have seen of greavsie on tv in his playing days i always thought he was smaller than george best, and bestie was 5' 9" so i said one day during the early 1990s "he must be about 5' 7"05 to 5' 8". He just appeared to look small, maybe not small but he never looked tall. As in 5' 10" wich was talliish back then. But the greatest english forward england have ever had. I dont know why alf ramsay could justifiey leaving jimmy out of the 1966 world cup final, but seemingly alf ramsay didnt know how the game should be played. He was all black board and chalk, with the players falling asleep.

My friend has an old copy of the official Tottenham Hotspur F.C yearbook for the start of the 1968/69 season which gives the heights of all the squad members. Jimmy Greaves was listed as 5’ 7 1/2”.

Editor Rob he's more out of public eye last few years, had a bad stroke a couple of years ago.

He was usually listed at 5'8" although in a Tottenham Hotspur year book in the late sixties he was listed as 5'7.5" and he looks about half an inch shorter than Rob in that photo.

Did he mention the 9-3 win in 1961? He spoke at length about Wolves so I was happy. Ex Chelsea full back Ron 'Chopper' Harris was also at the show, he was slightly shorter than Jimmy, Harris was 5'6.5", possibly 5'7" at a stretch.....

Jimmy did a show at the theatre I work in, he was really good, very funny, and a nice guy too. It was fascinating for me to listen to a man talking about my favourite subject with so much knowledge about the game.....how did you find him Rob? I got to meet him up close and estimated 5'7.5". I also saw Iain St. John walking through the bar the same night, he had just met up with Jimmy for a chat on his way to another event....he was in my opinion 5'9". Any ideas what Saint was in his playing days Rob?

Editor Rob he was a bubbly guy, talked a little about scotland/celtic as there was hardly anybody there at that event. Used to watch saint and greavesy growing up. Not sure about St John's height.
