Jim Henson never looked shorter than Frank Oz. If anything, Jim could easily give a 6'3"-6'4" impression next to 6'2" Frank, especially as Jim's legs were so much longer.

Although apparently Jim claimed 6'1" himself. Well, it can't be ruled out that he rounded his evening height of 6.1.5" down to a flat 6'1". If so, he would have been a solid 6'2.5" out of bed.

Been saying it for several years now, 6ft1 flat is an undersell for Jim Henson. He was minimum 6ft1½ up to 6ft2. Average guess is spot on, I dare say we make him the second honorary recipient of the 6ft1⅝(187cm) distinction after Aaron Rogers...or even prop him up next Andy Murray and Marcus Allen with the even groovier 6ft1⅞(187.6cm) title, banging on the door of 6ft2!

Easily pulled off 6ft2 on Arsenio. 6ft3 in shoes for definite

I turned over to Film Four to wait for ‘Puss In Boots’ and I took in the end of the movie ‘Muppets From Space’.

I couldn’t stop laughing at Gonzo’s banana-shaped nose, and within a few minutes, I looked up to see loads of Gozos, having landed from outer space to collect their relative. It was so funny that I nearly had an accident!

What a wonderful creation The Muppets were, and it’s hardly surprising that so many big stars wanted to appear on Jim’s Muppet Show. I caught Alice Cooper and Deborah Harry appearing, so I consider myself very lucky because the show wasn’t exactly a regular part of my routine.

Taking into account all the interesting comments I have just read, I'd like to go for the average of 6ft1.75. Maybe Rampage is right and Jim did 'dumb it down' a little.

Please don't tell me that's only 2in between him and Arsenio Hall. He's slouching while Arsenio is standing upright and he has a good 4in on him! Furthermore, please don't downgrade Arsenio to 5ft9 as a result of that. He was easily around 5ft11 back then (does look shorter today though).

I think this is the part where we all fall for '...he was so lanky everyone would always swear he was taller'
Yet, I haven't seen any pic of anyone taller next to him

That said, it is possible that he used shoes with boot-like 2"-3" heels, which would not be uncommon and would explain the mismatch
