Yeah, definitely taller than Firth and Firth is no 6'2er.
Prime example of a towering 6'2er at peak. 80s and 90s and early 2000s, could pass for 6'3 at times. Rarely seen with anyone taller. Nothing less than 188cm prime. Can most certainly still pass for 186 today, I'm sure, rather than just 185cm flat.

Looking at Only Fools, I’d have said a solid 6ft2 range over weak.
Edged out Challis, Lyndhurst and Lloyd Pack who were all 6ft1+ guys. Also taller than Daniel Day Lewis in Gangs of New York.

Could have been a John Cusack/Lance Reddick-type 6ft2er in his day (190.5cm out of bed/188.5cm evening) and still a solid 6ft1 today at least, sometimes looking 6ft1½

Rob, is 6'2.25 possible for Jim Broadbent peak? You look at some of the stuff he did in the 80s and 90s and he could definitely give a 6'2- 6'3 vibe at times. Towers over everyone.
I can't see him being any less than 6'2 at a peak.

⭐ Next to Miriam Margolyes ('Blackadder's Christmas Carol'), who can't even have been 5ft at that time, the effect was positively comical! She played Queen Victoria and Jim her beloved Albert.

I loved Jim's barman role in 'The Crying Game'.

Jim can turn his acting ability to play ANYTHING, from his part in the 'Inspector Morse' episode 'Absolute Conviction' to Queen Victoria's Prince Consort, Albert, in 'Blackadder'.

In the film King of Thieves the police profile on Broadbents character describes his height as 6ft1.5. You'd think that would have come from Broadbent himself. Question is was that claim about the height he was then,in 2017,or is that a peak claim? Quite rare for celebs to claim their current height in old age. So could he gave been 6ft1.5 peak?

He's one man I've definitely notice shrink over the years, or certainly seems to have shrunk.
You see him now in things like Harry Potter, and he looks 6'0" at the very most, but as Slater in Only Fools & Horses, he looked a good 6'3" as he walked through the Trotters doorway and said, "in all my glory" lol.

I was pleasantly surprised to spot Jim starring in a comedy sketch in 'Not The Nine O'Clock News' yesterday, on a DVD, so 'Blackadder' wasn't the first time he'd worked with Rowan Atkinson.

He's a very tall fellow to this day. How he towered over John Thaw in 'Inspector Morse', but 'Blackadder' does tend to consist of tall actors, with the one odd exception - Baldrick! The only other shorties are women.

Jim gets 6ft2.75 peak and 6ft1.5 for today's height.

@ Rob - That's news to me that Jim has played Santa in a film. He does give every part his all, and will make a good part brilliant and even a mundane part something well worth watching.

And another thing: he can use his voice to great comical effect, as he does in 'Blackadder'!

I have never seen Jim look any shorter than 6ft1.5/2! Have you seen him in 'The Street'? He is in episode 1 of series 1, I mean that is HIS particular story, and he stars with Sue Johnson, who plays his wife. It is sad, funny and very moving. 😩😂😫

Jim seems to like following Miriam about in his 'Blackadder' parts! He followed behind her as she was being introduced to her potential new husband, Blackadder, all happy, as indeed was she! Jim was bending down to talk to her much of the time, but he didn't have to all the time and looks in access of 6ft2 without a doubt!

Blackadder wasn't quite so enthusiastic about the prospect of marrying Miriam, it has to be said! She's as amorous as she was with her 'Albie', as she called Prince Albert, when the two were paired together in 'Blackadder's Christmas Carol', as Victoria and Albert!

I've been to the Victoria and Albert museum, and I don't remember them looking like that! The 'Blackadder' coupling was FAR more fetching! 😉😋

He was definitely 6'2" at peak, he looks tall in all of his movies. This guy looked tall in Cloud Atlas, Eddie the Eagle, and Hot Fuzz. Jim towered over Simon Pegg and Nick Frost who played his son in the movie, you could tell that he was at least 6'1" by the way he looked next to them. He also looked taller than Timothy Dalton to me. Jim was a legit 6'2" at peak, 6'1" nowadays.

Jim looks pretty much his full height in this 'Inspector Morse' episode, called 'Absolute Conviction'. No way is he less than 6ft2, and this must date back to 1990 at the latest, I'd say.

I love all his work and his ability to act as anybody, using all manner of accents, from classic English to Cockney! He was even in 'Gangs of New York', so what else has he been in that I haven't discovered? Worth Googling? You bet!

I shall settle for 6ft2 peak and 6ft1 for today's height.

I think he was 6ft 1.75 on his prime, and today 6ft 1in-1.25.
In 2002 he was 0,5in taller than Daniel D.Lewis (6ft 1) and, being 53, i don't think he lost much at times.
Today he appears sometimes 6ft 1 and others 6ft 1.5:

Peak height was 6ft 1.75in (187 cm)

if you watch a 1983 episode of only fools and horses you can clearly see that jim broadbent is 1 or 2 inches taller than nicholas lyndhurst. so if nicholas lyndhurst is 6'2 which i doubt he ever was jim broadbent at his peak must have been 6'3 or 6'4. but most likely jim broadbents peak height was 6'2 and nicholas lyndhurst was between 6' or 6'1.

I've seen him in a number of films and I can't think of one where he looked small, so I find this listing realistic. He's made actors like Anthony Hopkins or Ewan McGregor certainly look a couple of inches shorter. The only Broadbent movie I can think of where he is with other tall actors is Gangs of New York. In that one, he almost the exact same height as Daniel Day-Lewis.
