Rob, surely Orbach was no more than 6’1” by the time he started his Law & Order stint? Chris Noth had 1/2-1 inch on Orbach from their first joint episode.
Editor Rob
I think you can tell with his physique that he didn't make it to 50 without something being lost.
Sinclair said on 8/Sep/22
Rob, can Orbach have 6'1.25"?
Weak 6'2" actors like Chris Noth and Adam West had Orbach by about half an inch.
James.B 172cm said on 21/Jul/22
He didn’t look a great deal shorter than Steven seagal
Sinclair said on 22/Aug/20
Orbach’s slouchy posture makes his peak height difficult to determine. 6’1.5” is the height I would estimate for Orbach’s peak. I thought Adam West looked slightly taller than Orbach in an episode of Murder, She Wrote and Chris Noth typically edges out Orbach in Law & Order by at least half an inch.

He probably lost a decent 1in by the time of his passing.
But at peak I wouldn't say less than this and you could argue 188cm.

Rob, Have you watched Delirious, I Remember his scene with John candy there were eye to eye, very similar maybe Candy is taller his posture is not great but he was such a big guy, I think he was 6'1.5 for sure
Jug said on 11/Aug/16
6'1 at peak, I think, not more.
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 13/Jan/16
Could have been 6ft2 peak, Rob?
He was older in Law & Order and could look near it in the earlier years.
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 27/May/15
He was also in Dirty Dancing. Can't recall scenes w/h Swayze though.

6' 2" in a photo with my father '70.
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 13/Oct/14
The full 6ft2 isn't impossible either. He was a huge loss to the show. No one to this day tops his performance as Detective Lennie Briscoe. Brilliant actor
James B said on 9/Sep/14
He looked an easy 6'2 if Seagal was a legit 6'4.
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 9/Jan/14
Solid 6ft1.5/187cm if not a weak 6ft2 peak

After watching many L&O rehearsal I completely agree he was a very good detective (maybe the best one) and that he was 6'1 at max.
Alex said on 18/Jun/13
He looks slightly shorter than Noth in Law and Order, I would say 6-1 in the nineties and maybe 6-1.5 when he was young.
J said on 4/May/13
I disagree with this listing. Check out Orbach next to 6'1.5" to 6'1.75" Chris Noth. Noth is clearly taller, even taking into account Noth's tall hair. 6'1" tops for Orbach. And a very good Law and Order detective as well.

He was well under 6'1 flat near age 70, Jake. Looked an inch shorter than 186-187cm Jesse L Martin by the end of LaO. Also, was shorter than 186cm Richard belter in 96-97, at which point he was in late 50's. 6ft1.5 peak certainly possible, but 186cm is also possible. It depends whether he lost height by 50's.

He was near 6' 2".

Maybe 187 prime. 184-185 by the time of his death

As listed with me in 1969 in our living room.

In LAW & ORDER, he looked to be just a bit shorter than Chris Noth. 6'1 1'2" is spot on for him.

Yes Caesar! Exact: according his posture, worst and worst as he was getting on in years and he gradually lost a good deal of height.
In one episode, where he had to stand humiliation and was endangered, upset he stood up straight and faced Benjamin Pratt and was a tad taller than him (Pratt not doing the same and keeping a natural posture).
Facing Steven Seagal in Out of Justice, he doesn
Caesar said on 13/Sep/08
Looked about an inch shorter than 6'2 Benjamin Bratt adjusting for posture. I think he was 6'1 in his later years. 6'2 prime.
thekiddd said on 19/Apr/08
Is only problem is he's not alive today. He looked about 2" exact shorter than Seagal who is 6'4", but was taller than most of his co-stars, but maybe almost 6'2
is correct.
Some_Guy said on 18/Mar/08
I would give Jerry a full 6'3". Take a look at him with Seagal in Out For Justice. They are almost eye to eye and thats '91 when he was in his mid 50s and may have already lost some height.

I thought Orbach was a full 6'2", as he looked an inch taller than 6'1" Richard Belzer in a Homicide/Law & Order crossover episode.
Caesar said on 26/Sep/07
Seemed exactly the same height as Chris Noth in the early days of the show. He might have been taller in his prime.
