Rathbone had angular features and brilliant posture which probably helped make him look taller. But this guy could also give a 6ft1+ impression at times.

What do you think Rob, who is taller Basil Rathbone or Jeremy Brett?
Editor Rob
They are roughly within same range, I think you could probably make a case for either to have an edge, but it's been a while since I really looked at Brett....at the moment I'd stick with Basil as having an edge.

Similar to Rathbone I think...

Strong 6’1.

Not under 6ft1

Correction:
He was in a stage version of The Crucifer of Blood with Charlton Heston, not on film.

Probably the full 6'1 at peak. Didn't look much shorter than Charlton Heston in The Crucifer of Blood (in which he played Dr. Watson, ironically, to Heston's Holmes).

Another gangly 6ft1 guy who could give a very tall impression

Jeremy Brett was six foot. He was quite good as Holmes although he did shout too much.

186cm, Rob?
Editor Rob
you could argue at times he pulled that off

He has been listed as tall as 6'02.00"! However, and even 6'01.00" seems best.

As the quintessential Sherlock Holmes, he seemed to be at least 6 feet even, maybe 6'1, even with many health problems and, later, an enlarged heart. In his youth, in War and Peace, Henry Fonda was noticeably taller.

Jeremy Brett was easily 6'1", and maybe a bit taller. When I met him after a performance of AREN'T WE ALL on Broadway in 1985, he was wearing sandals. So, there was no question of him having lifts in his shoes. He was very nice!

David Burke, who plays Watson in the first series of Sherlock Holmes by Granada Television, does not seem like he is more than 5'10'', judging by the proportion of his body, and Jeremy Brett is never more than two inches taller. I would say Brett is about six feet even. The other Watson, Ed Hardwicke, is much shorter, giving Brett a very tall appearance in the later series.
