He was convinced he was about 5 ft 11. Embarrassing? Yes. Agreed, difficult to argue much over 5 ft 9 peak. Hope you don't feel too embarrassed now ;-)

Sorry, I didn't know that Big G said Stallone was 5ft10.75, if possible please show me a link where he claimed it. However you should have mentioned Big G in your original comment to avoid confusion.

Yes on average with Heston I thought he looked 5'9.5-5'10. I think overall this is the best shout.

Watching The Pigeon That Took Rome now and he looks around 5 ft 10 with Heston. His height can vary form scene to scene though depending on posture and camera angle, he can look anything between 5'9.5 and 5'10.5 at different times.

Rob can you tweak to Dirty Harry series, Madigan, Capone, Hell is for Heroes, St Ives, Pork Chop Hill, Houseboat, Whiffs and The Pigeon That Took Rome?

I've been meaning to watch The Pigeon That Took Rome with Heston and Whiffs with Elliot Gould for some time, he had major roles in those.

Yeah he's one of those supporting actors who blend into the background on screen, you know the face but often don't know the name. I checked out who he was years back when I bought the Dirty Harry lot of DVDs and he turned up again in the Enforcer.

Sly Stallone was in Capone too, a role before he got real famous with Rocky! Obivously Stallone's 5'10.75 made him look clearly taller than Guardino :-)

Stallone was 5ft9 max, what are you talking about? If anything, Guardino was the taller one.

That was quick! Can you squeeze in Capone and St Ives? Yup, exactly what I was going to give as a final guess, just under 5'10. I think he was the sort of guy who slouched a lot so could seem smaller. Stood better he was a good inch taller than Bronson who had on thicker shoes I think. With Clint Eastwood about a 6 inch difference seems about right. With Lauren Bacall it's difficult to see shorter than this.
