Punctuation has zero to do with grammar. Punctuation can be utilized to help establish clarity in sentences, but it can also be used to place emphasis on different aspects of a complete thought.

Grammarly is a tool, that's all it is. If your writing is terrible, then it won't be a helpful tool for you. The software may lend suggestions and display punctuation errors, but the tool will not transform you into a dynamic writer.

If you do not have this quality embedded in you, then all Grammarly will do is ensure that what you wrote actually makes sense to whoever is reading it.

So, no, I am not beating around the bush. You just lack adequate comprehension of the English language, and I was correcting your erroneous judgment of why I sometimes use Grammarly. It is no different than autocorrect on one's mobile device.

Does autocorrect improve your writing? No, it's just f-king convenient.

The thing about being 6’0” is if I wear boots or something like an air max I feel taller than about 85-90% of people I come across. Which is why I have a hard time just labeling 6’0 as above average. It’s the start of tall IMO but there have been a handful of situations I’ve been in over the years around mostly 6’3 and taller guys where I’ve felt average/short. That said, I still personally wouldn’t want to be taller than 6’2” as I believe diminishing returns of benefits start after that.

Ok, I stand corrected then. I was just going by what you said in your original post, so if you do include ranges in your chart then that's good. Still, I'm not sure what makes the method I mentioned more complicated. It's not even my method. It's just BMI with a scaling coefficient of 2.5 instead of 2 to better account for height. There are websites that use that exact formula and call it "better BMI for tall and short people" or something similar. It's just an improved version of BMI.

Ya, a lot of 6'5 range guys claim 6'6. The average person definitely can't tell the difference, but it's obviously pretty noticeable for me. There is a huge drop off between 6'5 and 6'6, so a legit 6'6 is much rarer.

Kind of off topic but since we're talking about BMI it is kind of sad to see our society's decline in health. I feel like I'm seeing a lot more genuinely out of shape or obese people these days and know several people who have just casually gained a lot of weight over the years, especially after the lockdowns. I'm going to college right now and it's almost breathtaking to see so many people in their late teens and twenties already obese or putting on a lot of weight over a semester. I know BMI is kind of a shaky tool, but most of these overweight/obese BMI aren't there for the same reason Big Alex is.

If you don't know, my younger! 6'5" brother is reached his height last year (2021)... This means my height-interest began 4-5yrs earlier.
So when i came here, I've been obssesed with real celeb heights, not with mine.

If i was unhappy with my height then I'm gonna claim 6'3" or my morning (6'2.5"), but what do you see ? I don't do it. Never didn't.

That's a valid opinion. I will note that a legit 5'9.5-5'10" (measured barefoot in the evening) is nothing to complain about and probably at least an inch taller than a lot of people think it is. A lot of people probably think that I'm about 6 feet tall (when to be honest I'm only 179cm), which leads them to think that 6 feet is average range and 5'10" is shortish or something.

The "dwarf ancestors" myth still is popular. People don't realize that there were height fluctuations over millennia. I read that men and maybe women were taller than modern people in some places during the Dark Ages. Deprivations, after that, greatly decreased height averages, and they started to rebound at some point after World War II.

The Industrial Revolution brought forth a lot of economic and social deprivations, especially in urban England. There were world record setting height disparities. For instance, the richest teens were close to modern teens while the poorest teens were close to modern sixth graders as far as size is concerned! Rural Americans, at the time, were the tallest demographic.

I think that your five-inch gap sounds reasonable. Of course, it varies by place and time. FE, Dutch women are taller than Indonesian men, both of whom are normal height for their countries. At one time in the 1600s, the Dutch were the SHORTEST population in Europe.

Honestly, i always judging heights on a flat floor or flat streets. This is my rule. Because it depends on 2-5inches.

What's about you ?! Are good in guessing heights or how you doing it ? Eye level etc.
Did you know, if someone's 5-6cms over your eye level, he's still noticeable shorter than you.!?

Let's say the avg girl isn't 6'4 or 6'0 or 5'7".
If you seen this 6'4" very tall/giant girl then it's like 6'9 or even 6'10" man. These are unseen and unbelievable heights. Statistical misfits and rare.

P.S. My noon is like 187.4-5cms, evening is 187-187.1cms. Maybe after sports it's like 186.9.
Morning is last time when i checked was 189.2.

@Jdubbz: You're mistaken. My chart is much better. I DO include weight ranges based on body frames, and I add or subtract five to fifteen pounds based on larger frames or smaller frames. That means that a 5'0 woman, with a small frame, could have a healthy weight of 90 pounds.

You're making things more complicated than they need to be. I make things more accurate and more understandable for regular individuals who don't need or want unnecessary formulas. My chart is easy to follow. It's not perfect, but your method isn't, either.

This might be a little wild but for the first time I saw a guy that claims 186cm get called short on a website I'm on by a guy that is 204cm tall. Oddly enough the 204cm tall guy is always complaining about everyone talking about height, but he brings up his own height everyday and sees like 6 foot 1 guys as short lol.

Objectively speaking a man who's at least 6'0 feet tall and weighs over 90kgs/200lbs(i.e. isn't rail-thin), is a BIG MAN.
At 6'0 tall you are taller than 88% of the human population...Imagine a room of a hundred people and only 12 are taller than you.

Rail thin for 6'0 would be under 150 lbs. 200 lbs is very much on the larger side for that height. Also, your numbers don't make sense when applied to most Western countries (where most people who post on CH live). 6'0 is on the taller side of average, but it's generally closer to 80th percentile than 88th. Looking at younger men, it's more like 75th percentile.

Also, there is a huge difference between being 2-3" taller than average (which 6'0 is) and towering over them. I would agree with the poster who said that 6'4 is the start of towering height. 6'0 is above average to tall (depending on your location and opinion), but not a towering height unless you're only around short guys and women.

I think it's a good rule to establish that women are, on average, five inches shorter than men. Speaking of historical heights, I have it on good authority that the height of European men in the Middle Ages was 5'8.25. I once compiled some research into the topic when I was more captivated by human height. Separately, the book, Men of Bronze, talks about the height of Ancient Greek men by citing the measurement of skeletons. It was discovered that the tallest member of Greek society could have been 5'9.

However, a figure of 5'6 was more common for Greek males. I argue that men who grew to 5'9 were most likely conscripted into the army as soldiers were taller than the average man in those days. When the second wave of the Bubonic plague ravaged Europe in 1348 A.D., it negatively impacted the heights of succeeding generations. This is because the plague, in its aftermath, caused famine and poverty. The Bubonic plague is estimated by scholars to have killed 2/3rds of Europe or around 75% of the continent's population. This massive loss in demographics did not recover until the mid to late 19th century. It was around this time that the average height began to increase since the emergence of capitalism was able to usher in a higher standard of living.

The Bubonic plague travelled along the Silk Roads, which was a major trade route between Europe and Asia. The disease itself came from rats in China, which had come aboard merchant vessels bound for Europe. The earliest reports I could find were traced to the Venetian port, which makes sense to me because Venice was a major commercial hub for Europe.

Anyway, just a bit of trivia for you. Hopefully, this proves educational for other visitors. You would be astonished by what people do not know, Poster.

I don't use Grammarly to improve my writing. I have it active to help me locate errors in my punctuation because most of the mistakes I make are with commas. My grammar itself is good, not perfect but good, so your statement is erroneous.

Grammar, by the way, is about how sentences are structured. Grammar will determine the coherency and legibility of what you write. If what you write does not make sense, it means your grammar is terrible.

Here is what the Merriam-Webster dictionary has to say about grammar:

"the study of the classes of words, their inflections (see inflection sense 2), and their functions and relations in the sentence." The Cambridge Dictionary also defines it as, "(the study or use of) the rules about how words change their form and combine with other words to make sentences."

What is a sentence? A sentence is a string of words that form together to produce meaning or message and serves the purpose of communication. Since a sentence is meant to communicate one's thoughts, it ought to be sensible. Do we agree on this?

I might talk about syntax next, but I worry I have already lost you.

TLDR: I don't use Grammarly to improve my writing, I use Grammarly to help with my punctuation.

PS: What is punctuation? Let's consult the Cambridge Dictionary again: "(the use of) special symbols that you add to writing to separate phrases and sentences to show that something is a question, etc." The Merriam-Webster dictionary also defines punctuation as, " the act or practice of inserting standardized marks or signs in written matter to clarify the meaning and separate structural units."

Okay, here's your English language lesson for the day. The next time you call my writing into question, be certain that you understand how sentences are written. My sentences happen to be written well.

Just measured myself at 5'7 1/2. Was starting to think I wasn't gonna grow any taller after having a growth spur 2 years ago (which isn't terrible, but still). But after not measuring myself for a few months I may have a chance at getting your height or taller. Is it possible I could get to 5'8 by the end of this year?

Don’t mean to be a debby downer, but if you haven’t grown a fraction in two years and then suddenly measure yourself a fraction higher the measurement was probably an error or you measured yourself at an earlier time of day

I weigh 240 as well. I'm not as muscular as you are, but BMI considers 240 to be right between overweight and obese even at 6'6. It's ridiculous isn't it? In your case BMI is off due to muscle mass, in my case it's due to height.

I would only hit the very upper end of "normal" range at 218lbs, but in reality it's closer to 230. A BMI in the middle of the healthy range (22.5) would be 196lbs for my height and 166lbs for yours. I can't even imagine being under 200 with my height and frame.

Giga calculator is a bit on the overly generous side compared to other height calculators I've seen. It puts my height at the 99.97th percentile, which is really inflated. Strong 6'6 is of course very tall, perhaps approaching 99.9th (maybe something like 1/750), but 1/3333? Nah, that's more like strong 6'7 or weak 6'8 range, which is a proper "extremely tall" height. Maybe giga is more accurate for heights closer to the mean.

I agree that 90th percentile is the start of legit tall, but the calculator I use says that's a tiny fraction over 6'1. 6'1 is what I would personally consider the start of tall, but some may argue 1SD above average (Just under 184cm) is better. The tall life calculator assumes a 5'9.3 overall average, which I think is just about right for the US.

I will classify the heights you listed rather than the percentiles, since the percentiles differ between giga calculator and the one I use. I agree that 5'10.5 is the start of above average, and that range extends to 5'11.25. The only thing is that I would start the tallish range immediately after that, so it would include your height as well. 5'11 3/8" is definitely tallish, but so is 5'11.75 (IMO). I would put them in the same category.

This is a bit controversial, but I would include any height in the strong 5'11 range up to weak 6'1 in the tallish category. So 5'11.25 - 6'0.5. 6'0.5 - 6'1 is a buffer zone and I would lean towards the lower end being tallish and the upper end being legit tall.

My actual benchmark for tall is whether they are around my eye level (187cm), but that's just a convenience thing. 185-186cm guys are also "around" my eye level and their hair would bring them to my eye level, so I consider that tall. Weak 6'1 or under doesn't strike me as tall, but of course I am biased due to my own height.

Using a height percentile calculator I saw that the 90% percentile in the USA is 184cm - 6'0.5, do you agree with that height being the beginning of tall height?
And how would you classify the 80th percentile (5'11 3/8 - 181.3cm) and the 85th percentile (5'11.75 - 182.5cm) ?

Following what you said I would classify it like this:
5'9 3/4 - 5'10 1/4 - Upper Average
5'10 1/2 - 5'11 1/4 - Above average
5'11 1/2 - 6'0 1/4 - Tall-ish

5'11 3/8 is the 80th percentile, I don't know if it deserves the tall-ish placement or if I'd go with the 85th percentile 5'11 3/4, it's an arbitrary choice anyway.
The average considered was 5'9/175.3cm, of course for young people or if you consider a certain ethnicity it will be different.

I consider 182cm/5'11.5 to be the start of tall height (average 5'9), but that's my opinion.

I see as many 6'0 women as 6'5 guys in Denmark, but the average ratio between men and women here is also only 1.07.

Those heights are around 2 SD from average for both genders.

+6'1 women and +6'6 men is where it starts to be rare here.

@Bobby: I'm more into the heights of girls and women, but almost no people post about that, which is fine because they're more into guys' heights. I also like to learn average heights at various times in history. Averages by country are interesting too (it's very hard to find state averages). Subjects, like morning height, don't do it for me. Stuff like that gets dull and repetitive. To each their own. Unfortunately, some of the best commenters left. I hope they return.

Yes BMI is inaccurate for people at the extremes of height, but you shouldn't run into any issues at 180cm as that is still more or less average height. Perhaps you have more muscle mass than most guys your height.

Your method (100lbs for 5'0 and adding 5 lbs per inch) isn't doing anything that the charts aren't. In fact, it's even more inaccurate for tall people and doesn't take into account muscle mass either. At least the charts provide a healthy "range".

Any method that assumes a fixed relationship between height and weight and doesn't provide a range to accommodate various frame sizes and muscle mass is flawed. What you propose is simpler than an adjusted BMI, and may work for you, but it is in no way better. Especially for tall people.

Going with your method, 191 lbs would be my optimal weight. Even BMI gives me 218 lbs as a cutoff for healthy weight (which is itself a 10-20lb underestimation). 191 lbs is silly.

I'm literally this tall. Even in tallest avg countries is about 3inches taller. So it's def tall height everywhere you go. In my case I'm lanky guy that helps to look even taller.

I think the real avg between young people is between 5'9- 5'10.5", but in general population is a weak 5'8.5- 5'8.75".

6'2 will stand out in small crowds. 6'2-6'3 at bars clubs you'll usually be one the tallest. Bigger events as sporting events, concerts etc it won't stand out. Events that big youll get more guys 6'4-6'5 plus

@Jdubbz: I don't fully agree with that. My method is better. It's more accurate and more realistic. I explained why. The weights are too high for short women and too low for tall women. Many women have muscle weight too. Muscle weighs more than flab. I know some fat skinny short girls. Female athletes and female bodybuilders should weigh more than sedentary women at the same height. I also think that the charts are too complicated. My chart makes much more sense, and it's easy for people to follow. I'll stick with it.

Yeah BMI formulas are often crap at estimations. I'm now roughly 83kg and roughly 1.80 so that would make me look slightly overweight or just normal weight,but people often comment that I've lost weight and that i need to eat up lolz. I think the taller someone is,the more weight he/she can put on and still look normal or lean. It's just a matter of dimensions-it's easier to balance and even out weight on a taller body than on an average/shorter one.

A disturbing proportion of people tend to write poorly, but I am not one of them. I also don't fret over insignificant fractions such as quarters and half inches. I measure a quarter below 5'10 in the evening, but I always describe myself as a 5'10 guy.

I used to be much more captivated by human height, but I have lost interest now that I am older and wiser. I suppose I get along more with people ten years older than me than with people my age or younger. If nothing else, it does interest me to try and figure out how tall some of my favourite video game characters might be if they were real, but that's more of a head exercise than anything else.

I don't know what 2023 has in store for you or me, but I hope it will bring forth great opportunities and memories!

I had an incident in hospital on Friday, just before I left, in which the lady in the bed next to me, named Valerie, felt too ill to eat her dinner, so she asked me what my cats might like. I replied, “They love chicken.”

Weight and height charts like BMI (which I assume you’re referring to here) are accurate enough for average height people. Especially the average woman, who most certainly does not have enough muscle or a wide enough frame for a false positive overweight or obese BMI value. Where it completely breaks down is with people on the extremes of height. The creator of the BMI formula foolishly assumed that weight scales with height squared. As if humans are two dimensional and don’t grow in width and depth as they grow in height. An absolutely moronic assumption. It assumes tall people are more overweight than they really are, and short people are less overweight than they really are.

Yeah I think you’re spot on. It’s occasionally very tall, but generally speaking it’s on the upper end of the regular tall range. Among the general population it can definitely stand out and sometimes be very tall, but for younger people (especially white and black men), 6’4 is a better start of very tall. Perhaps even 6’4-5. Whatever 99th percentile is for that demographic.

I used to categorize the various tall groups (tall, very tall, extremely tall, etc.) by standard deviations, but I think percentiles might be more intuitive. Tall = 90th percentile or 1/10 guys, very tall = 99th percentile or 1/100 guys, extremely tall = 99.9th percentile or 1/1000, super/outstanding tall = 99.99th percentile, etc. The only issue is that each inch becomes more and more rare as you get further from average, so a 1/100,000 and a 1/1,000,000 height may only be 1-2” apart.

I agree completely. Among younger people, 6’1.75-2 isn’t even in the top few percentiles. It’s closer to 90th percentile than 97-99th. It’s a fantastic height, but nowhere near rare enough to be “outstanding tall”, whatever that even means. I agree that 6’6+ is a better benchmark for that. Maybe even 6’8+. I’m a fraction over 6’6 at my lowest, and I genuinely haven’t seen anyone taller than me since October. That’s not a common experience though, generally I can go 3 weeks to a month without that happening.

Have become good friends with a couple and the guy is 200cm. I see this guy regularly (3 times a week) and he has good proportions . For me I do feel towered every time I meet him. It’s a completely different experience with someone whose is say 192 cm. I am

Unpopular opinion but 5'9.5-5'10 is literally just perfect height range. You're solid average which means your height is never a big part of your identity, so it's near impossible that you'll get "wow you're tall" or "wow you're short" remarks

If you want to be tall, I completely understand that, and I'd be lying if I said that I haven't fantasized about being like 6'2-6'3; I wouldn't be surprised if most men have done that atleast once. But I personally simply have no interest in being noticeably tall like so many guys have. I wouldn't complain if I suddenly grew to that range, but generally the best thing about being that height is being able to say that you are that height, since society is obsessed with categorization and labels

Personally, I just prefer to blend in as solid average appearance-wise, so that I'm able to focus on my personality and interests instead. You can obviously do that whether you're 5'5 or 6'3 as well, but it's easier if your height isn't the first thing people notice about you

6’0 for a female is technically much more common than 6’7 is for a male. The equivalent height is something like 6’5.75 which is 2 or 3 times as common as 6’7.

I’m not 100% sure if this is what he intended, but I do the same thing in my height charts. For example, If I said 6’0 - 6’4 is tall and 6’4 - 6’7 is very tall, I’m not saying 6’4 is simultaneously tall and very tall. Rather, I mean that heights up to and not including 6’4 are in the tall range, while 6’4 itself and heights over 6’4 are very tall. I can see why it is confusing, but it’s easier to say 6’0 - 6’4 = tall and 6’4 - 6’7 = very tall than 6’0 - 6’3.99999999 = tall and 6’4 - 6’6.99999999 = very tall. Of course, 6’3.99999999 and 6’4 are, for all intents and purposes, identical. You just have to draw the line somewhere. That’s my logic, at least.

I think a strong 6 ft 3 will be considered very tall by 99% of the population, even guys like Chris Hemsworth and Sacha Baron Cohen on here at a flat 6'3 most people would call them very tall.. I think 6 ft 5 is the real cut off point between normal tall and unusually tall, 197cm would be the start of seriously tall, which you can also see be how many are 197cm on here compared to 6'3-6'4 range, much rarer. Guys like Wladimir and Howard Stern I'd start to classify as more unusual.

Thank you for your kind words. I can see why anything in the 180 - 185cm range is desirable as it is above average to tall without any significant downsides. I also agree that many of the criteria that people use to determine whether a height is too tall or too short are overly generalizing in nature. Like you said, a typical example is that many people think that being above a certain height means you're too tall to put on a decent amount of muscle. While it is true that 5kg of muscle will almost always look less significant on a 195 cm man than on a 165cm or 175cm man, just due to the sheer difference in volume between the two, it's not like being above a certain height means you put on muscle at a slower rate. Plus, there are so many factors that affect the outcome such as hypertrophy genetics (as you mentioned), muscle insertions, limb length, frame size, workout intensity, diet, testosterone levels, etc. Plus, if a really tall guy were THAT determined to quickly put on some size, there are of course ways to assist with that process (don't want to get into specifics on this forum, but I assume you know what I'm talking about).

Wow, I'm surprised your height range is so broad. You sound like the kind of guy who can appreciate the benefits of a huge variety of heights, which is admirable. My range is much smaller. I wouldn't want to be shorter than 6'3 or taller than 6'8. Shorter than 6'3 because I've been 6'3+ since age 18, and have spent the entirety of my adult life above that height. Below 6'8, because while I do enjoy being tall, it has its limits and I wouldn't gain anything from being significantly over 200cm. I can see why you'd like to be 192cm. It's RIGHT on the line between tall and very tall, and height related issues are still somewhat minimal at that point. You clearly stand out (in a good way) without your height being one of your defining characteristics. I was that height for a while so I speak from experience. My country doesn't use the metric system so I preferred 6'4/193cm over 6'3.6/192cm, but it's not like there is a big difference between the two.

Very well said. I agree that heights between 5’11 and 6’4 would all fall into that ideal height range. Although there is no perfect height, in my opinion the most universally appealing height for men (at least in western countries) would be somewhere in the 6’1 - 3 range. Let’s say 6’2 +/- half inch. I’m not going to be a hypocrite and say that’s THE ideal height, but I think it has the most benefits and fewest drawbacks, especially compared to heights under 6’0. At that height you’re legitimately tall, yet you don’t tower over everyone and absolutely dwarf most women. The height difference between me and a short woman looks comical, as if she could be my daughter. A lot of women also seem to be intimidated by really tall guys. At 6’1-3 you satisfy the “tall guy itch” that many women seem to have, yet you aren’t tall enough to intimidate the crap out of them. Not to mention the other benefits of being tall but not too tall. I wouldn’t trade my height for something in that range as I love being really tall, but objectively it’s a great place to be.

I agree with everything up to normal tall/very tall. If 6’1 is the start of normal tall (which I agree with), I think 6’3 is too low of a bar for very tall. Also, extremely tall is more like 6’7/200cm+. 6’5 is definitely very tall in the US/UK, but it’s too common of a height to be considered extremely tall. It’s also less than 3SD from a 5’10 average. I wouldn’t even consider myself to be extremely tall (a mm or two under 199cm evening height) let alone a guy 1.25” shorter. 6’4 - 6’7 or 6’4 - 6’6.75 (200cm exactly) is the very tall range, IMO. Everything else you wrote is pretty much spot on.

Your height chart makes no sense. Why do you say that 5'7 is "normal" short, but then call it "shortish?" Why do you lump that in with 5'9 but then call it average height? Why do you refer to 5'11 as average height but then call it tallish? Why do you call 6'1 tallish but then call it normal tall? Finally, why do you say 6'3 is normal tall but then call it very tall?

The whole chart makes no sense. You can't just define the same height in two categories. Like, is it logical to say that 5'11 is simultaneously average and tallish? Or that 5'9 is simultaneously shortish and average?

I recommend that you rethink your chart.

In my opinion 180cm/185cm/6'0 has a lot of social convention that it is an ideal height, I can't understand that there is a perfect height, this is very subjective, some may argue that too tall a height is harmful to build muscle, but what if the interlocutor of this objection does not care? or if he is 1.95m and has excellent genetics for muscular hypertrophy?
I would not want to be less than 5'8 and more than 6'7, they are heights arbitrarily chosen by me, 5'8 would still be the average in my country and above 6'7 I feel that I would have a lot of difficulty finding clothes, shoes, car seats, etc.
I would like to be 192cm but the height range I quoted earlier would be my minimum and maximum. That's my verdict on height range and "ideal" height.

6'3" tall still noticeable taller than 6'1", but 6'0" ... it's very debatable because we have some decent examples like Chris Evans & Chris Hemsworth. In my eyes it's solid height difference between these two. Different skulls, eye level, shoulders etc.
But 6ft and 6'3" both are tall heights. Lowest and tallest end of this range.

I don't believe in height and weight charts because they don't account for frames and muscles. A female athlete often weighs more than an "ordinary" female at the same height. I also think that the weights are too high for short girls. I think that an "ordinary" 5'0 girl should weigh a hundred pounds, and add five pounds for each additional inch.

Rail thin for 6'0 would be under 150 lbs. 200 lbs is very much on the larger side for that height. Also, your numbers don't make sense when applied to most Western countries (where most people who post on CH live). 6'0 is on the taller side of average, but it's generally closer to 80th percentile than 88th. Looking at younger men, it's more like 75th percentile.

Also, there is a huge difference between being 2-3" taller than average (which 6'0 is) and towering over them. I would agree with the poster who said that 6'4 is the start of towering height. 6'0 is above average to tall (depending on your location and opinion), but not a towering height unless you're only around short guys and women.

You're entitled to your opinion, but it doesn't make much sense. 6'2 is well over the 90th percentile of height in most Western countries and over 3" taller than you. You would be looking below a legit 6'2 guy's mouth. In a previous comment you state that you rarely feel average or below average (implying you're above average), yet you consider a height 8cm above your own to be merely above average? The logic doesn't make any sense. 6'2 is a full standard deviation (actually a bit more) taller than your height. I think you are downplaying the difference a bit.

180cm isn’t perfect, as you will feel shortish if your friends/family are mostly over 6ft… it’s still a lovely height though and no one can tell you it isn’t.. I’m a weak 6ft and am one of the shortest in my family so it all depends who you grew up with etc… The Uk is a pretty short country really, even though my eye level is only 5ft 6 at night (10 inch head) I’ll still feel fairly tall most of the time amongst the population

Short for their day, and tiny for ours.

If I could time travel like 80–100 years, I would be the equivalent to at least 6'4" to them. Funny to consider, seeing that I am merely average by statistics at best. Whatever! I did very good considering.

There is no single number you can put out as an ideal height. Now an ideal range? Sure. I'd say if you surveyed a bunch of girls to look at a lineup of guys and they were told their heights I would bet you'd find that the ideal range for attractive height would be between 5'11 and 6'4.

A legit bedtime 5'11 is noticeably taller than average and looks great. On the other end a proportional 6'4 can look equally great; with the added benefit of being much more imposing as he will nearly tower the 5'11 guy.

It's not a huge benefit over guys shorter/taller than this range, but I bet it gives you a slight edge.

I find in places such as in some stores in my small town, 6'1-6'4 is the regular tall range where it looks tall but still fairly common, while other places that range can be the few tallest around. If you are talking specifically about the US/UK yes 6'0-6'3 is the ideal range as countries that don't use the imperial system would not mind these heights in that format so I would include 180cm in the desired height range in countries who do not use the imperial system.
By the way, I don't even consider it a question of being far from the average in this regard, but because of the fact that it seems "far from the average"

You see comments like "not many women are taller than 5'5, and you see many girls and women taller than that every day". What? My other pet peeve is seeing walls of text about boring and mundane things like morning height and quarter inches. The dullest posts tend to be the longest posts. Of course, I almost always post about female height, so I can't throw too many stones. Maybe C-Mo will post a dissertation about female height next.

Yeah I had been up since 6 am had maybe 2-3 hours of sleep passed out on a bathroom floor after clubbing, let’s not talk about it actually 🤣. By the time me and Alex had walked around I was bordering extreme low. We both said we felt super similar when we met. Alex guessed me at 6’1 and he wasn’t far off me either at all.

Nah. 180cm is a good height, but ideal for most men seems to be in the 6’0-3 range, so perhaps 186 - 187cm. 180cm is a bit too close to average height to be considered ideal, IMO. If saying “looks 6 feet” is a perk, then wouldn’t 183cm itself be slightly more ideal? It’s not like those 3cm introduce any problems.

The problem isn't the declaration itself since ideal height is subjective. The issue is that he keeps talking about 180 cm being the ideal height. It's obsessive and obnoxious. If you asked me, I think the ideal height for men is 6ft because it has all the benefits of being average height, but has the advantage of being considered tall everywhere you go. I like being able to blend in, which is why I love being 5'10, but if I were 6ft tall, it wouldn't be a big adjustment for me.

I don't feel dwarfed next to a height like that,for reference i have a wardrobe exactly 187cms tall or roughly 6'1.75 and sometimes think im pretty close to it from a bigger distance (couple of meters or a little more).190-191+ is where it really starts to stand out alot in my opinion.

It's only my opinion, but i think a real 6'2" is a bit very tall, this isn't my point or mantra, but 6'2"= 70% is tall, 20% is very tall, 5-10%= above average, "not tall" and other...
This height is not like yours or 6'5" guys or Jdubbz, but the average men and people are nowhere near to this tall (barefeet of course).
I'm generally 1/4" (6'1 5/8" in the evening) under 6'2" and if i could be legit 6'2"range then it's def making myself very solid tall or like "low very tall" or something like that, lol, because I've always seen 6'1"range as solid tall or classic tall.

Oh I think quality of sleep makes a difference too. I slept for over 8 hours for once and woke up at 8:40. Measured a tiny bit after 11:00 so near 2 and a half hours. Bang on 173.

Canson, also when i met Jawilder in July we measured 6'0 5/8 and 6'0 1/8 at about 1pm. We couldn't even tell the 1/2 and most probably couldn't either on the street. The back to back shot you could see it but still looked pretty close

There was a bad poster who was banned and who was 6’2 and a bit they thought he was too tall and claimed that anyone over a certain height was doomed. In your case it’s open/shut since you’re 5’9.75 at a low and 5’9 7/8 at lunch where Rob lists people here. You’re essentially going to get a 5’10 listing here or 5’9.75 worst case depending on when he saw you. But either way it rounds to 5’10”. You’re too tall to claim 5’9” and I wouldn’t even advise it

For someone like Jdubbz or me, we could claim 6’6/6’4 or 6’6.5/6’4.5”. Either or works but it’s primarily preference based. When you have taller friends like me, I don’t see the point and they claim their lows mostly. So I have a 6’2.75 at a low friend who was 6’3 peak and claims 6’3 still which is fair and a 6’5.25 friend at a low who claims 6’5 then one who is 6’6 at his low. So I claim 6’4”. Fact of the matter is that if I claim 6’4 1/2 or 6’4 it will not make a difference and the half isn’t necessary for me or Jdubbz. Christian claimed the half but it’s because he’s closer to it than we are and that’s a full centimeter above 6’5” which is where it gets to be noticeable.

But yeah,an 184 guy with good posture and decent footwear is gonna look atleast 185 to the average person,if not 186.

Yeah, my barber is 6'4 and he was one of the few guys who made that comment considering me kinda tall.
6'0.5 isn't short close to 6'4 but starts to get above that in my opinion, however as heights of 6'4+ are relatively uncommon a strong 6'0.5 will look tall in most cases. places and will probably give an impression of 185cm at times.

I have a pet peeve concerning people who constantly repeat themselves. C-Mo has been talking about the ideal male height for at least five years now, and probably longer if he was here before I was. How is he not sick of rehashing the same topic all the time? The obsession behind this screams insecurity and toxicity. The former is because he's dissatisfied with his height on some level, and the latter is because he's unintentionally insulting people who are not that ideal height.

As for that Avi guy, I know the person you're talking about. If I was very tall, I would find Avi just as irritating. Although, I know others have brought up what they perceive as drawbacks of being very tall. I don't mind people who have opinions, but repeating opinions get stale.

Did you watch the FIFA World Cup before and how was the outcome for this match? For me personally, I was rooting for France to win but Argentina has beaten them in the penalties. I would say it was an amazing match and it was a really close match. Aside from the outcome of the FIFA World Cup, I would like to talk about this Argentina Player name Angel Di Maria who is a midfielder. There has been a mix of online sources that bills his height as either 5’10 or 5’11 (well most of them are 5’11). There are some photos I’ve seen where Angel is a bit taller than Mbappe but also a bit shorter than Mbappe and it does get really confusing on whether which one shows an accurate estimation. Angel does look around 3 inches taller than Neymar whom you’ve listed at 5’8 and also 4-5 inches taller than Messi whom is listed at 5’6.5. If I was to give my estimate on Angel Di Maria’s height, I would say he is definitely between 5’10-5’11 for afternoon height but I could say maybe 5’10.5 could be accurate for him. I would love to hear your thoughts on Angel Di Maria’s height whether you believe he is 5’10 or 5’11 range and if there are any other sources that you can find that matches well with his true accurate height, that would be great to share as well. It's usually the other way around in other countries than Sweden. That's what I was saying in my previous comment. People over here mostly underestimate height instead of overestimating like in America for example. I've been guessed as 190cm by relatives from an other country.
I'm also a pretty ugly and weird looking guy, which I think makes the "short impression" even stronger. Swedes are pretty shallow and unfriendly people if you actually get to know them, and I think that plays a role too.
I was measured at 6'1 by a doctor and it's only when I measure myself that it seems to be between 6ft and 6'1.

6ft 7 (2 meters) would be seen as very tall or huge for sure, but not freak height or abnormal. I have distant family of that height myself. The brother of my cousin's wife is that tall (and their son seems to be taking after it, he was called huge when he was two). My 6ft 3.5 maternal uncle also told me that he wasn't the largest in my mom's side of the family, apparently. But being that tall isn't so common as you'll be guaranteed to see it in every environment, IMO.

6ft 5 can (196cm) also be seen as huge (my friend has been called The Hulk, but he's also largely built, though I'm sure his height contributed to it as well), while it's a bit more common to see.

I live in central-east Sweden, but not in Stockholm. I feel kind of small next to 6ft 5 guys. Actually, I can even feel small next to my 6ft 3.5 (192cm) uncle. Guys who are steadily into the 190cms (6ft 3-5) I'm pretty used to.

A woman once questioned that I was 6ft 1.75 and thought I was more of a 5ft 11 guy at most, perhaps even 5ft 9. Maybe I come across as more of a medium-sized persona. But some people are quite bad at estimating height.

I feel short next to a person when my eyes are looking at the person's mouth, so in my case it would be somewhere around 6'3, but I can feel short-ish next to guys 6'2- 6'2.5 .
Ironically, I've been considered tall-ish by 6'3.5 - 6'4 guys, maybe because I can at least stand at eye level with them.
