My first memory of Elaine was from a weekly showing of 'Pollyanna' which I would watch when I came home from school.
She was very tall then; I was thinking on the lines of 5ft8, but 5ft7.5 is close enough, so I'm plumping for that!
The little girl who played Pollyanna appeared on 'Blue Peter' one afternoon, discussing none other than - her own height! Although she was 13 and playing an 11-year-old, she was convinced that she got the part because she claimed she was 4ft8! She wrote in a week or so later, in preperation for the interview, saying she was an inch smaller! She did talk about this 'very tall, thin woman aunt' in the production (Stritch), on her 'Blue Peter' afternoon slot, leading me to believe that they were about a foot apart, which they certainly could pass for when the weekly programme's instalments got underway, and very enjoyable they were too!
I was 13 myself and roughly 4ft9 at the most, if my memory serves me correctly! I didn't start my growth spurt until 14 and a half!
Anyway, Elaine gets 5ft5.5 for today's height and 5ft7.5 for her peak.
