Rob, could you please add Stroud to the Bond Actors tag as Colonel Heller?

Interesting how we've now got this guy, Dalton and Davi at the 6ft1¾ mark

Rob, out of those three who do you think was tallest peak?
Editor Rob
with all 3, I've seen more of Davi/Dalton than Stroud. I think it really could be close

I believe Stroud was once a legitimate 6’2” actor. I thought Stroud edged out Robert Davi in Licence To Kill. It would have been interesting to have seen the height difference between Stroud and Benicio Del Toro in that film.

Weak 6’2” sounds good. He is a large framed guy. Always was very active in between movies. A Gym enthusiast and Pro level Surfer in his 20’s, 30’s. In The King of the Kickboxers He had an inch or two on 6’1” listed Loren Avedon.

...at some point, during Coogan's Bluff, Eastwood looks at an official report on Stroud's character, and I paused on that report. It may mean zilch, but it lists Stroud (Ringerman)as 6' and, if I could read it because it was harder to see, roughly 156 lbs.

He could pull off 6ft2 often enough.

@Rob, maybe a full 6 ft 2 is a bit high you know, he was barelly taller than Gary Busey in the Buddy Holly Story and often looked 6'1 range in his films. I think 187 might be a better shout, I'd give him 6'1.5 from what I've seen overall. Maybe give him 6'1.75?
Editor Rob
yeah I think a weak 6ft 2 is believable, I remember not long ago seeing him in an episode of babylon 5 and thinking he was still imposing but maybe not a 188 ranger.

Lost an eye when injured trying to prevent a mugging. So probably a really good guy in reality unlike the bad guy he sometimes played in the movies.

@Weird as in Games barefoot he only looked 2-2.5 inches taller than James Caan in shoes! Caan might have been wearing lifts though but he didn't look like it with Katherine Ross!
Arch Stanton said on 3/Apr/16
@Rob, can you squeeze in Games?
Arch Stanton said on 22/Aug/15
LOL I've been saying for years on Davi's page "Perhaps he didn't look tall because most of the guys were 6 ft 2 in that film!
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 10/Aug/15
@Rob

It just hit me now. There's a whole bunch of 6ft2 range guys in LTK! Dalton, Davi, Benicio Del Toro, Everett McGill, Wayne Newton and this guy. I would have thrown Des Llewelyn in there but he most likely had lost a bit by then.
Editor Rob
just one of those coincidences really.

Don Stroud looked a little shorter than tough-guy actor William Smith, who is also listed as being 6'2".
Arch Stanton said on 6/Aug/15
He wasn't stood by Dalton but briefly with Davi he looked about the same height.
movieguy said on 4/Aug/15
I sometimes confuse him with the killer in Dirty Harry myself as stated below but they were different actors. Found his niche it seems but never a big star. Good presence on the screen though so maybe could have been a bigger name with luck.
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 4/Aug/15
Was he taller than Timothy Dalton and Robert Davi in License To Kill?
Sam said on 4/Aug/15
It's a pretty standard '70s hairdo on Stroud IMO...he could seem a likable guy even in loser-y roles.
Arch Stanton said on 4/Aug/15
Click Here God awful hair in the late 60s and early 70s.
Arch Stanton said on 4/Aug/15
In Madigan actually I recall Fonda I think it was laughed at his hair and told him to get a haircut!
Arch Stanton said on 4/Aug/15
@Rampage, I don't mean HE was a loser, but in the late 60s and early 70s he was typecast in those sorts of roles and had awful hair at the time. He'd have made a good killer in Dirty Harry.
Arch Stanton said on 4/Aug/15
Yes Sam, like Kristofferson he had that quintessential "70s" look about him!
Sam said on 3/Aug/15
This actor is like the ultimate "that guy" from 70s films...not a super-familar name but a very familar face. I actually wasn't aware he was quite this tall but didn't really pay attention, from stills this could fit him though.
movieguy said on 2/Aug/15
I agree with comment from Arch Stanton, this guy genuinely looked 6'2''. I'm about to start off about Eastwood's height again but probably better leave it for his own page.
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 2/Aug/15
@Arch: that's a bit strong
Arch Stanton said on 2/Aug/15
Looked it, although Eastwood did look almost 6'5 with him in Coogan's because of cowboy boots. He
looked such a loser with crap hair in the 60s LOL, and he was typecast for a while playing bums. He was also in Madigan which Sam mentioned recently, again as a loser type.
