Rob, there could have been less than an inch height difference between Jones and Keenan Wynn in Snowball Express, but it certainly did not seem more than an inch.

Rob, could you please add a ‘You May Be Interested’ section for Dean, with Buddy Hackett, Don Knotts, Michele Lee and David Tomlinson?
Gerald S said on 31/Mar/23
Rob, do you think Dean was more likely under or over the 5’11.5” mark?
I’d say 5’11.25” was more likely than 5’11.75” but Dean held up to a 5’11.5” frame in most of his projects, including Born Again (1978).
Editor Rob
I feel a better chance of just under than over that 11.5 mark.

I bet Dean would have claimed six feet all his life and who could blame him? I feel the majority of 5’11.5” guys would round up to six feet; not bothering or knowing the intricacies of fractions in height. In fact, I know someone who is more or less 5’10.5” (about half an inch taller than me), who gives their height as six feet; not bothering about specifics. They even recommended I start doing it too and just be hopeful to avoid any real six footers. However, in this day and age that is becoming an increasingly challenging task. The taller, younger generations are taking effect and outshouting my average 5’10” more and more frequently.

Admittedly, 5'11.5" seemed a bit of a stretch for Dean in Under the Yum Yum Tree; he often struck me as 5'11.25" in that funny film. However, I deduce that was because Dean bent over numerous times, hence not looking his full potential with 5'9" Jack Lemmon. Although, in one scene, Dean was running on a field, looking the full 5'11.5". Dean also came off as a proper 5'11.5" in Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo, The Ugly Dachshund and That Darn Cat! 5'11.5" for Dean is a great listing, Rob! No chance of a flat 5'11" nor a full six feet!

He was definitely a solid 5’11.5” in the 1965 That Darn Cat!

Rob, what would be your favourite Dean Jones film?
Mine would be Herbie Goes To Monte Carlo, followed closely by The Love Bug, followed closely by That Darn Cat! Snowball Express is also one not to miss. I think Jones looked his tallest in The Ugly Dachshund, a very solid 5’11.5” in that.
Editor Rob
I enjoy films about Cats, so I liked Darn Cat, then Herbie films

Rob, could you please add The Ugly Dachshund to Jones’ credits? I recall that was a good, funny film, like most of Dean’s.
Sinclair said on 21/Apr/22
Rob, what film is your included Dean Jones picture from, not the one above from The Love Bug, but the other one where he is wearing a tuxedo?
Editor Rob
The Ugly Dachshund I'm sure as I was watching clips of it.

I recall I once mentioned to someone that Dean Jones was listed as six feet and their response was that he was probably five feet eleven but claimed six feet. I admit that I used to buy six feet for Dean without a grain of salt; he was obviously under that though.

Rob, at 3:53, how tall does Richard Paul look in comparison with Jones?

maybe a good 3 inches shorter that moment.

Rob, could you please add the tv series “Herbie, the Love Bug” to Jones credits?

Dean deserves a comment from me for being in That Darn Cat alone…..😹🐈
What a bunch of feel-good movies the late Dean left for us to remember him by - how sweet! 😀👍🏼
5ft11.5. 🕯

Rob, could you please add Snowball Express and Blackbeard’s Ghost to Jones’ credits?

Rob could you add beethoven to his film credits he was memorable for that film
Sinclair said on 12/Apr/22
It was nice that Dean lived to the grand old age of eighty-four!
Moreover, he held his 5’11.5” height exceptionally well over the years, still holding that height well into his mid 60s in the That Darn Cat remake! Funnily enough, alongside David Tomlinson in The Love Bug in 1968, I thought Jones actually seemed the shortest he’d ever been in his entire career and that he looked a stronger 5’11.5” in all his projects from then on. Peak Steve Martin height range.
Editor Rob
By 90's he'd have lost a bit of height, with
Charles Grodin he still could be near 5ft 11
Sinclair said on 12/Apr/22
Rob, who would you say was a stronger 5’11.5” out of Jones and Maurice Ronet?
I’d say Jones had a better chance at 5’11.75”. Thank you so much again Rob, you even agreed with my 5’11.5” hypothesis again. Like with Ronet, it is almost impossible to tell if Jones was more a strong 5’11” or a weak 6 feet, so 5’11.5” is a perfect compromise.
Editor Rob
It would be hard to choose which of them might have the best chance. From looking at more clips of Jones recently I don't think I would go above 11.5 or thereabouts.
