How tall was David Hemmings

Rob can you add Camelot, Gangs of New York and Gladiator on the end? I spotted him in Gangs watching it again recently. Wasn't a major role but a memorable one worth mentioning in a big film. He was Cassius in Gladiator. Big films which I'm sure a lot would know recognize him from even if more minor roles.

He could look a bit taller than this actually in Juggernaut. Rocked wearing a pink cable jumper in it when it would looks silly on a lot of guys, even in 1974! Still, Clint Eastwood used to wear a bright yellow polo neck back then!

I think the explanation for it is that he challenged Mr T to an eye staring duel while he was filming an episode of the A-Team and Mr T said "I pity the fool. Eyebrows forever be raised" and being the force of nature that he is looked up at Hemming's eyebrows and permanently dislodged them :-)

Really? Can't see it. He reminded me more of Malcolm McDowall. Hopkins was more like Richard Burton really when he was younger I thought, with similar accents. Oh yeah, his eyebrows went crazy when he got to middle age. I don't think he was ever a particularly handsome guy though, great dress sense and style though.

In this photo, he happens to resemble the young Anthony Hopkins quite a bit IMO...like I said Hemmings aged a bit rough, I did a doubt take when I realized he was one of the senator guys in Gladiator, which I think should be added to his known fors.

Hemmings definitely seemed to around the short side of average. I didn't know much about his directing career besides his tumultuous time directing an ancient Marlene Dietrich in her last film. Here he is teaching David Bowie to dance in that movie, Just a Gigolo. Hemmings looks around 5'8" or 5'9" there.

Nice one Rob, thanks. Difficult to see more than this in Blow Up and even in big shoes he looked noticeably shorter than Vanessa Redgrave!
