๐น I swore I could see the late Pink Floyd keyboardist, Richard Wright, in the show and, yes, he was there. When the band took a bow at the end, he stood right next to David, and they were pretty much height twins! โ๏ธ
Richard died of lung cancer at the age of 65. He was 5ft11โ tall, and in the band from the beginning.
RIP Richard XXX ๐ฏ

Oh, this is MAGIC! I checked out to see whatโs on Sky Arts and David Gilmour is in concert. Itโs from Gdaลsk in Poland in front of 50,000 fans. There is an ensemble of violinists and together the sounds emanating from my new, large TV are magnificent! My favourite song so far has been The Division Bell, but theyโre all masterpieces. The audience is understandably in ecstasy.
David still looks pretty tall, so Iโm giving him 5ft11 for todayโs height and 5ft11.75 for his peak.
๐ถ PS: Iโve just spotted a larger stringed instrument, probably a cello. ๐ป

No, itโs โSoundโ, in the singular. My mistake!
I found a Floyd concert on my phone, entitled โDelicate Sound of Thunderโand the first track I played was โRun Like Hellโ, which I saw them perform in Sumner 1980, when they did โThe Wallโ live. Roger sang the vocals.
That might have been a good idea for my brother, when Iโd discovered that heโd eaten a whole packet of my fart sweets!

Shouldnโt that have been Sounds? Iโll consult my CD collection!

Oh nice! Dave is singing the song โOn The Turning Awayโ, which was one of the first songs I played for my foxies, with a particular emphasis on the lyric, โNO MORE turning awayโฆ..โ
They look like red dogs, and they have love in their eyes. So much love and gratitudeโฆโฆ ๐ฆโค๏ธ

They are showing the Pink Floyd concert โDelicate Sound of Thunderโ this afternoon on Sky Arts. It started at 3 and goes in until 5, and itโs on now - magnifique!
Iโm going for 5ft11.5 peak and an inch less today.

I think 181.6 at his peak low

โญ๏ธ I noticed at the end of the concert, the year 1987 popped up.

The Floyd concert is from Venice, BTW.

Thereโs a Pink Floyd concert on Sky Arts tonight and David is singing the lead vocals. Itโs an 80 minute show, including adverts, and if itโs anywhere near as good as the Roger Waters one I saw weeks ago, itโll be mesmerising. Itโs from 1989.
5ft11.5 peak and an inch below that for today.

Actually, it was Dave G who sang on the Pink Floyd song 'On The Turning Away'. Apologies to David.
I find Roger Waters' and David Gilmour's voices very similar. They both have the same ethereal vibe in their vocals. That's why when Roger went solo, David was the natural replacement choice.
Both singers are tall, but you can notice a difference. I saw Pink Floyd perform 'The Wall' in the Summer of 1980 at the Wembley stadium, and had to look down as I had a seat upstairs, yet still the couple or so inches were evident. On the other hand, Syd Barrett's voice was completely different. I'd say he sounded somewhat cheeky, but if you listen to his solo work, namely 'Barrett' and 'The Madcap Laughs', Syd's voice comes over as haunting as ever. I've read Syd's height was 5ft9 and on this website, someone wrote in saying he was 5ft11.
David gets 5ft11.5 for his peak and an inch less for today. I read 6ft for him in the early 80s - not impossible for his morning height.

Ooh, I say! I watched a video for 'Dogs of War' the other night while I was feeding my foxies!
It was Dave who was doing the singing, and there were loads upon loads of huge big bright-eyed dogments thrown in. ๐ถ๐ฆWonderful stuff, so check it out! I sent it to Nik!
Peak height - 6ft; Now - 5ft11.

Roger Waters is 5'11" (180 cm) in barefoot no more..... 5'9" for David (175cm).

Could you please add David to the rock singers' page Rob? He has made solo albums, at least three, and when Roger Waters left Pink Floyd, Dave G took over as lead singer.
Thank you! ๐ธ๐ง๐๐๐ผ

โญ How terribly shoddy of me not to have mentioned that the dancers I was talking about in my last comment, whose heights were all levelled off to the nearest inch, were those from the 'Top of the Pops' dance troupe known as 'Legs and Co', who started their careers as TV dancers in 1976. โญ
Miss Sandy Cowell said on 7/May/19
@ Rob - I will have to check out how true these modelling rumours are. I only heard it from one person - who had a doctorate in astronomy and played his music SO LOUD that his equipment was taken away by the Police and he went to Court for Disturbance of the Peace! โฎ๏ธ I read about it in the local papers, and said, "Typical!" Then I blew my nose and wiped tears of laughter away from my eyes. I know the sort of music he played, and it won't have sounded very melodic to the neighbours at 3 in the morning!
Anyway, if Dave G was a model, it would explain why he was rounded up to 6ft. I just covered all the members of 'Girls Aloud' and recalled how each and every girl was rounded up to the nearest inch. Well, the same was the case in a 1976 article in the newspaper my Mum bought, giving a low-down on each of the dancer's height and weight statistics. There were no half, let alone quarter-inches for them either!
So maybe the media doesn't find the necessity to state precise heights, which is a bit daft really when you want to know who is the tallest between 3 or 4 guys or girls of roughly the same height...! ๐

Oh thank you, thank you and THANK YOU ROB!
I have been an ardent Pink Floyd fan since I was 16. I saw them play when I was 19 at Wembley Stadium, where they performed 'The Wall'. It was a brilliant concert with lots of freaky balloon-like things flying around of Gerald Scarf's creations. What a night!
I am so happy to see him hear, I really am. I'm writing this in bed, (I over-exerted myself yesterday clearing up the kitchen and ripping up and accumulation of Amazon boxes!) but will doubtless be back again and again. Dave G was gorgeous in his prime. They all were and still are - will a whole lot more knowledge!
I shall go for 5ft11.5 peak and 5ft10.5 now.

I went for 181cm, but I can see how he could look anywhere from 5ft 11 to 6ft peak.
