Sorry James - I've just seen your post. I posted the same picture on the Cruise page where you can see the whole body,and David isn't standing on anything.Using Rob's 'how to measure celeb height' eyes to bottom of lip 3 ins, then another 1.5 to chin, Michael's eyes line up just below Davids lip (about 3.5 inches shorter?)

So if David is as listed, that would put Michael at 5'8, or if Beckham is 5'11, Michael at 5'7.5. The difference in height looks less on the photo I posted on Cruise page.

in Parkers pic Beckham is obviously not 183cm as there is at least a 2cm difference between him and lamps who is 183cm. Beckham is max 181cm

Football listings vary a lot for intance Ebi Smolarek is usually listed 5ft9 - 5ft10. Nowadays he is listed 172cm in offcial website of Bolton.

Players like kaka and zidane are 6'1 and seem very tall in matches even around other players. It makes me wonder why when most footballers are listed as 6 feet and over. Michael Ballack is also listed as 6'2 and looks very tall even amongst chelsea players who are very tall. Does anyone think footballers are measured with shoes or boots on??

Look up team photos of real madrid for the years beckham played there. There is not a single photo were beckham and ronaldo are the same height. Beckham is always shorter by around and inch. Becks is 180 flat barefoot.

I agree with sven, an inch or two seems to be regularly added to players. John Terry and sol campbell listed as 6'2" and gerrard as 6'1/ 6'2" are two listings that I would say are a couple of inches out. The best way to judge players heights is in the team/squad photos as they are all in same footware.

look up team photos of real madrid sqaud on google i found 3 different photos were beckham is standing next to Ronaldo and Zidane. Ronaldo is listed as 183cm and beckham is clearly an inch shorter than him and 2 or more inches shorter than Zidane. I beleive Zidane is a legit 185cm Ronaldo 182cm and beckham 180. I think 182 is not right.

Thanks Richi, he is taller than i thought. Its really hard to judge with him using pictures because at times he looks nearly zidanes (185) height and other times looks Juninhos height (178). I thought maybe 181. And btw did anyone ever notice Ronaldinhos height become 181 from 178?? In 2002 world cup Ronaldinhos height was always 178cm

Here's a picture of Beckham alongside world no.1 tennis player Roger Federer. Beckham is normally listed as anywhere from 5'11-6'0. Federer on the other hand, is listed at 6'1 constantly. Federer dwarfs Beckham (even if they are 1.5 inches apart)!!

I believe the following peoples heights are not correct. Im not saying they are, they just seem that way to me:

- cafu (listed as 5'11.5 but really to me looks 5'9 or maybe just on 5'10)
- adriano (listed as 6'2.5 but i think looks same height as lucio who is 6'1)
- malouda (listed as 5'11 but looks about 2 or 3 inches shorter than sagnol who is 5'11)
- beckham and original ronaldo (they look the same height which i believe to be 5'11, ronaldo can be argued but he looks the same height as juninho who is 179cm)
- ronaldinho (looks about 5'10 next to argintinas 5'11 requelme in the olympic games)

look at the pic of beckham and williams, beckham is rotated slight towards the camera, look at where his left foot is. now imagine if his feet were directly on the same line as robbies. Williams is lised as 6'0 . He's clearly not that height if everyone on this page is disputing Beckham being 5'11.05.

I think DB genuinely is around the listed height as he is taller than Wiliams & Timberlake who both claim 6'1.

I think it is their heights rather than his that needed adjusting ...

Based on Beckham's own words in his autobiography, his impeccable posture, his lean upper torso, the generous heels on his Gucci and John Lobb shoes he wears so often, his pics with various celeberties, there is no way he is over 180cm. The editor is about 2 to 3 cm off. My guess is 179.5cm

Nobody can really know someones exact height without measuring them. In every photograph I've seen he never looked shorter than 5'11. He's even quoted his own height at 5'11. I think the editor has got this one virtually spot on.

hey guys, i just saw David in the Beverly Wilshire Hotel tonight....
he was wearing dress shoes(i'd guess they give him an extra 2 to 2.5 cm)& he was a few feet away from me. i'm 5'10-5'11 and my shoe's sole is 0.5-1 cm .

Maybe Beckham needs a downgrade. 'mee' you said you had never seen a pic where Beckham appears shorter than 5'11, allow me to show you one. Here is Beckham with Victoria listed here as (5'4.25), I see her at nothing over (5'3) barefoot and Queen Latifa listed here as (5'9.75), I see her at nothing over (5'9) barefoot. You be the judge:

Alot of people argue that QL is wearing heels, however her posture says otherwise. She's much more relaxed than oh let's say Vicky who's wearing huge heels. Just compare Victoria's posture in heels to Latifa's, QL looks to have flip flops on, just like Beckham has sandles on. I even zoomed up as close as I could to the back of her shoe, there's a small slit in her pants, doesn't look like a heel at all, looks like her entire flip-flop is flat on the ground, it's kind of out-of-focus, but just try zooming in and keep a straight face and honestly tell me she has on heels and that that's why she's the same height if not a little bit taller than Beckham! If you zoom in, you'll see her feet are going straight back and not tipping upwards as if she were wearing heels. If she is, then maybe she's mastered a trick where the front half of her foot can look perfectly straight as if she's wearing flats, but right about the middle of her foot starts bending upwards to the hidden heel covered by her jeans, but ya know, I wouldn't place my biggest bet on that! Her & Beckham aren't much different in height!!!!

RW. The footballer's height are often not correct. Best exemple: makelele. he's sometimes listed as 174cm, although he's way shorter than ribery who's listed as 170cm. I would say 167-168cm is the right height for makelele. Same for Malouda, who's listed as 181cm, but he should not be taller than 175cm, maybe even less. Giovanni dos santos could be shorter, that's true.

The weight of sportsmen can be kinda deceiving. I mean who would believe that Thierry Henry is hevier than Didier Drogba. The weight can be distributed in different way depending on ones built. I think C. Ronaldo really isn't hevier than 74-75kg he is surely is ripped, but rather slim.

I think Anelka is exactly 184cm = 6ft0.5 thats why he is sometimes listed 6ft and sometimes 6ft1. He is about inch shorter than 6ft2 Thierry Henry. He never has looked as tall as Henry. Becks will never ever be 6 feet. He was listed 5ft11 for a long time.

Beckham is 180/181cm, compare him with Frank lampard (183cm). He looks the same height as ronaldinho. Christiano Ronaldo is 185cm ( according to manU site) and not 187cm, he is well built that's why he looks longer. Looks like there is no goalkeeper under 180cm. Centre defenders are also mostly around 190cm. Wingers , players on the left and the right are usually the shortest of the team ( because they are fast). For attackers it depends some are tall ( good with the head, strong, weak in technics,) other are normall, small ( usually faster then 190Cm players) Most of them are in the 185+ level. It's strange but it's ALMOST always like that....

i would like to say something: "best player in the world for 2007" won kaka from milan. In that picture, were C.Ronaldo- left, and Mesi -right. Kaka who's 186 cm clearly was an inch taller than C.Ronaldo, that means Ronaldo is 184 cm. Messi is 168 cm, but in this case he is unimportant. :)

I saw this very short video of gary neville speaking about c.ronaldo and this was about 2 weeks ago (so about 1/02/08). Anyone have any idea how tall Dutch Arsenal player Robin Van Persie is, i've seen him listed at 6 ft, 6ft1 and 6ft2. Which one do you think it is?

Saw him on the beach in Brazil on TV 2day, in barefeet looked quite short, like 5-9 to 5-10. so i would say 5-10 max barefeet. 5-11 in football boots

About "Both Feet On The Ground" - On the page where it says his height, it states that he is 180cm (1.70in) and his weight 167.5 lbs.(75kg.). Think about it, 180cm is 5'10", and 167lbs is 67kg. I think the information isn't correct in Beckham's book. Or am I wrong? But I believe Beckham is 182cm. Even in his show/program "Really Bend It Like Beckham" he says to the kids "I'm quite tall".

About Oliver Kahn - Kahn is listed at 188cm. But if you see a picture of him next to 183cm Miroslav Klose, they look about the same height, at least in the first picture they look the same.

If Becks said he was 1.80 it means hes 1.80 and he looks exactly like somone 1.80. Its obvoius he wore lifts in those pics with Will Smith and also he wears thick sole boots most of the time. In summer he wears sandals and you can see hes not tall at all. Hes just a hair taller than 1.78 ra

Footballers are easier than actors to determine I feel, mostly because they all wear the same 'height' boots on the pitch and often pose for photo's standing at full stretch.

1.81 for Becks is bang on I think (same as Ronaldinho b.t.w). He looked ever so slightly shorter than 1.83 Ronaldo at Real Madrid in their team photos.

Cristiano Ronaldo has def grown a bit since the official 1.84 listing in 2003 when he joined Man Utd. I'd say solid 1.86 now.

One official height I'm not convinced of is Drogba - a full 1.88m..? he looks same as 1.86 Terry to me, what do you think?

And Carrick's listed height is a joke. He is put at 1.83 on the offical Premiership sites - he is more like 1.90, compared to Rio Ferdinand who is the same height.

Rooney I think is 1.77, though his build makes him seem shorter.

Thierry Henry is 1.87 and not a full 1.88 (nitpicking, I know...)

Rio Ferdinand is one they always seem to get wrong, he is listed as 1.88 or 1.89 in most places when I think he is a solid 1.91 at least.

I sorry to dissapoint you but Cannavaro is like 5ft9 and a half, thats 176cm tall. im 5ft 10 and i ahve to say its a short height. The average height has to be like 5.11 and a half - 6ft for me. Iker Casillas is 5'11 - 6'0. You see when in photos when he's with Raul, beckham etc, he's no taller and he's not slouching....I don't think it matters how tall you are for a keeper, it matters that you are good. Tim Howard is about 6'0 and he was at Man U. Same with defenders, Ivan Cordoba is like 5'6 but he's at Inter Milan and he's very good, Cannavaro 5'8.

You guys remember Jorge Campos from Mexico? He was good, and very short for goalkeeper.
I also remember Lux (now playing for Mallorca) from Argentina say that he wanted to be taller. Lux is 184cm.

Petr czech id 6'5", in my opinion the best keeper in the world. Im not sure if casillas height is ideal for a keeper (6') Commentaters regularly refer to goalkeepers who are 6'3 - 6'4" as having a goalkeepers 'frame.' There was also some discussion recently about peter schmiechaels son Kasper, (6 ft i think) about wether he was to small. Shay given of newcastle is also one of the shortest keepers. Gets listed as 6' 2" sometimes but really looks a lot less

looks like a slight downgrade is in order. Based on all the pics here I'd say about 182cm with shoes. Most likely he is 179-180cm barefoot as stated in his autobiography and on most stats. The height listed here is definitely too generous.

- Ronaldinho is tall. But to grow from the age of 21 and up is almost impossible. 5'11" (181cm) sounds correct. But he does look taller.

- I went into yahoo images, and typed in "Solari Zidane" and there's an image with Morientes(first column second row). Morientes is 186cm, and Solari does look 185cm. I can't believe it.

saw him often, metzelder played many years in dortmund.i think he is about 193-194cm. actually a friend of mine also met metzelder in a night club once. said he was really tall like 195cm but arrogant and stuck-up.

im from germany and a big football fan. im often at games from my favorite club borussia dortmund and sometimes when our national team is playing near the region i live. during the world cup last year i nearly saw all our players from close up.
my guesses are:
ballack: 188-189cm (im 181cm and he looked tall)
frings: 181cm (saw him really often cause he played for dortmund couple years ago)
klose: 182cm (was a tad taller then me. could be even 183cm)
podolski: 180cm (looked this, maybe 181cm)

RW, Saha is about 6ft not much bigger but athletically built, so looks taller (if that makes sense). Beckham is about 5ft 11, but when you are dealing in the odd inch or two then it's not surprising that people say his height is 6ft or 6ft 1/2 inch, as most people would not easily differentiate between someone who is 5ft 11.5 and someone is 6ft, assuimg they saw both people standing side by side. It takes at least a few inches in "genuine" height difference to see the visible difference between height (like Van Der Sar and Rio..both tall but Van Der Sar has at least 2 inches on Ferdinand).

Being a Utd fan and frequent visitor to Old Trafford, I have actually seen the Utd players at fairly close range (due to where I sit). Ronaldo is tall but not very tall, he's about 6ft 2 (my brother in law is 6ft 3 and he is taller than Ronaldo). Rooney is not that big, he's about 5ft 8... 5ft 9 (max). The other players such as Van der Sar, Ferdinand, O'Shea and Carrick are quite tall. Van DerSar is tall but very skinny definitely 6ft 5 (but as he's Dutch this comes as no surprise..Dutch are generally quite tall), Rio and O'Shea are about 6ft 3 or 4 and Carrick is about 6ft 3 (at least). One thing I will say about Rooney though is that although there is this perception that he is fat...when you actually see him in the flesh he's more solid than fat, his body shape and face shape probably give the illusion he's overweight but he's far from it.

Yesterday, Man. United v. Chelsea after the 2nd half, there's an image of Rooney walking next to Saha. Saha is 183cm, and Rooney looked very short.
Rooney was running through out the whole match, but Saha played only about 10 minutes. The body shortens after running a long while.
I haven't read Rooney's biography yet.
Rooney is listed at 181cm in the FIFA 07 game, but I think Rooney asked his buddies over at EA to boost up the centimeters.

I also agree, Beckham's height is the only one listed, that's clear. His biography says it. I remember Beckham saying on his show, "Really bend it like Beckham", that he had an advantage when it came to heading the ball beacause he was quite tall.

Most sites give cristiano ronaldo 184cm. I think 185 is more accurate. There is a portuguese player (fernando meira) from the portuguese national football team who is definitly 188 and he is at least 3-4cm taller than cristiano ronaldo. In Anonymous picture where he stands next to van nistelroy (who i think is 188-189cm), ferdinand and rooney he looks 183-184cm, but it´s not easy to calculate people's height from pictures . You can see wich one is taller or shorter but it's hard to find de real difference in cm.

I just can't see Cristiano Ronaldo at 6'2. I think he is lean and athletic which gives him a longer looking build. He seems 184-185cm tops to me. I think Ronaldinho is 179 cm

Cristiano Ronaldo must be 185cm . My sister and a group of friends saw him a few months ago in a Disc, and when he was living the place he passed near her and she could estimate his height. She told me he looked as tall as my father who is 184-185cm.

Becks is a solid 5'11" (180cm) but definitely not more than that. In shoes he can be 6' or 183 or slightly more. His biography says 5'11" Tell me please -why would they "short" change him??? 5-11.5 is too generous Rob, but if you consider his exaggerated footware and excellent posture then let it be.

i agree about Rooney maybe being 5'9 1/2...i think he is stockier which makes him sometimes look slightly shorter. I also agree with the person who gave Ronaldinho 5'10.

Its weird when i see Beckham he sometimes looks 6' even and other times he looks just 5'11. maybe 5'11.5 is perhaps the best guess
