"Are you domestic rather than imported?" What's My Line? panelist Ernie Kovacks asked 6' Danny Thomas when he appeared in 1957 as What's My Line? mystery guest. (Danny would be domestic,Ernie. He had Lebanese parents,but he was born in Detroit. Having watched a lot of Make Room For Daddy in my 59 years,I never realized The Andy Griffith Show and The Joey Bishop Show started on Make Room For Daddy! His 5'3" daughter Marlo starred on That Girl and son Tony created The Golden Girls. But look beyond just being a fine TV star,he was an accomplished singer,as I saw right after I got Danny's 1954 The Jazz Singer. But going beyond acting,Danny founded St.Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis,Tennessee. This hospital is used to treat children battling serious cancers,heart transplants,and diabetes many children suffer from. So while Danny Thomas is a great actor singer,his biggest legacy was founding St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis,Tennessee.

Arch, I did mention lifts for Dean. But watching the Make Room for Daddy episode, it appeared Dean was wearing regular shoes. There were the same height. Watch it if you can find it.

Martin's definitely wearing lifts in the Charo video. Well, I've always argued Martin could be 5 ft 10 flat, and there's a chance Thomas was a very similar height barefoot.

Now in all fairness, in this one Dean is wearing lifts which gives him about an inch and a half over Danny. Remove them, put regular shoes on Dean and I suspect they were the same height or around 5'10".

I agree with Steve, he was 5' 10". He tried to appear taller, i.e. 5' 11", at certain times, and without lifts, a bit like Van Johnson (6' 1'' but trying to look 6' 2") and Ricardo Montalban (5' 11" but trying to look 6') often did.

No more than 5'10". He was consistantly two inches shorter than Sheldon Leonard who was 6'.

Editor Rob this guy could look anywhere from 5ft 10 to 11, but I think there might be some truth in him being able to hoist himself up nearer to 5ft 11 than 5ft 10.
