German actor best remembered for roles in films such as The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, The Man Who Laughs, The Hands of Orlac, Dark Journey, The Spy in Black, A Woman's Face, Casablanca, The Thief of Bagdad and All Through the Night. In a 1937 industry publication he was described as 6ft 2 and 182 pounds. He has also been given 6ft 3 in other instances.

Clearly, 5'8" here looking Bogart eye-to-eye haha...goes to show how angles and footwear can manipulate how tall someone looks.

Rob, could you also add The Hands of Orlac, Dark Journey, The Spy in Black and A Woman's Face? Thanks, 6'2.5" is a good compromise, he looked about a half under Paul Henreid in Casablanca but I think he might have lost a little height by then?

Spot on I think, good call! Henreid edged him out I think Sam. The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari is one of my favourite films ever, the atmosphere in that film is electrifying!
