How tall is Chuck Norris

Chuck Norris Height

5ft 8 ½ (174 cm)

American actor and Martial Artist best known for movies like The Delta Force, Invasion USA, Missing in Action, Lone Wolf McQuade, Expendables 2 and TV show Walker, Texas Ranger. I found an article from AustinActors where the writer says: "In addition, Terry and Eddy both mentioned, "You know Chuck wears lifts in his shoes." Supposedly, Chuck is only around 5'7" tall and most of the people playing opposite of him were required to be his height or shorter". In his book 'The Secret of Inner Strength' Chuck claimed, "I am 5' 10" and weigh 170 pounds."
I remember I even went in to play Chuck Norris' wife in something and was told you can't be over 5 foot 8.

I spent years trying to get cast on Walker Texas Ranger but getting turned down because I was too tall to act with Chuck Norris, who’s elf-sized. Now I’ll never get to be on the new version because I’ll be too short for @jarpad. What’s a normal height guy to do?
... He claims 5’10”, but according to his Air Force records, he’s 5’8 ½ “. At any rate, as a general rule, guest stars on his show couldn’t be taller than that. I’m 5’ 11 ½”. Thirty years ago, I was 6’ 1”.

Well he measured 5’8.5 so he’s not likely more than that in his prime and he was around half inch taller than Clarence Gilyard who always looked a very solid 5’8” like Rob lists him so this is the best fit

Just saw a clip with Chuck Norris on YouTube on the Late Night With David Letterman show. He looked no older than maybe his late 30s or early 40s in the clip. He and Letterman were standing a good portion of the time practicing different scenarios about possible confrontations with an opponent. David Letterman is often listed between 6’ even to 6’2” depending on the source. From what I can see, I would say Letterman can easily pass for 6’1” barefoot. I looked at Chucks footwear in the video clip and no doubt he WASN’T wearing lifts. From what I could see, there was maybe a 4 1/2” difference in their heights, possibly as much as 5”. So my guess would be between 5’8 1/2” to maybe 5’9” for Chuck. He definitely didn’t look anything less.

Chuck was born in 1940. His Letterman appearance was 1988, he was actually 48 there. Chuck always looked younger than his years though.

Chuck Norris may have been as tall as 5'9.5" (peak). In the Coliseum scene of 'Way of the Dragon' (1972), the barefooted Norris appears to be 2 inches taller than Bruce Lee, whose shoes were no more than .5" thick.

Norris was always 5’8.5”. He only had about 1/2” on 5’8 Clarence Gilyard. Norris wore thicker boots to look taller. Gilyard was a very proper 5’8. He would look eye to eye with Rob In his prime

I thought Norris, now 82,was five-ten as Cordell Walker on "Walker,Texas Ranger," but we shrink as we age (I turned 69 yesterday, was five-nine and am now about five-eight,I believe) so Norris has almost certainly compressed with age.
Canson said on 5/Apr/22
Well Chuck is known to wear altered footwear so that can explain looking 5’9.5 or 5’10”. But at 5’8.5” which I believe may have been his afternoon height in his prime, it isn’t hard to look 5’9 in just a pair of 1.25” basketball sneaks etc especially if people aren’t aware of footwear differences. Boots only add to that as he was known to wear them. But he always looked taller than Clarence Gilyard who I believe was a legit 5’8” at least, so I could buy him having a slight footwear advantage via enhanced footwear or Lift in the show. It could look an inch to inch and a half at times. Usually about 1” or 1.25” so maybe Chuck had 1” Lift in or had 1/4” more boot and 1” lift and was really 5’8.5 like he’s listed

I met Chuck 2 years ago and am happy to send the picture. Ran a 5k and made a donation to his kids karate charity so a few of us had breakfast with him. Got to say hi and shake his hand. He was very nice to talk to and we share a few commonalities, like military service and he is a grand master in Tang Soo Do, which I studied, so he was very friendly. He had running shoes and so did I so no height advantage with footwear. Im 6'.75" and I had at least 4" on him by my estimate as he came up to my eye level.

LOL!! Anyone who has trained in any martial arts knows how silly this is. Then Chuck moved on to the next man who gets a nice celebrity donation spar.....lol!! Which doesn't speak much for her "accurate" 6'3 friend's estimate that he's 5'7 or less.....

Chuck did wear lifts. A shoemaker who made elevator shoes for Stallone, Michael Douglas, Burt Reynolds and others said Chuck requested he make elevator boots he could kick in. If you ask me, there's a good chance the boots Chuck wore to The Expendables 2 premiere are elevators: Click Here Click Here In those boots, Chuck looked at least an inch taller than Mario Lopez at 72.

He never really looked shorter than Van Damme when pictured together, but he wasn't too much taller than Bruce Lee when they were in similar footwear so 5'8.5" is probably right.
Editor Rob
They did look a bit on the large side.

There's a few tales of Chuck not liking too many tall people on Walker, here is another:

"I was cast as a love interest & was thrilled! I showed up at wardrobe 3 days before my episode was to shoot and the wardrobe lady stared at me, picked up the phone, called producers & 10 min later I was fired. Apparently I was too tall to play opposite Chuck Norris!

This was the only time I was ever fired BEFORE the cameras began to roll. LOL! The weird thing is, I had two auditions for producers before I got the role so presumably they knew I was 5 foot 8. Maybe they didn’t notice?"

I have a friend named Pete who holds black belts is two different types of martial arts. Back in the 1990's when Norris was not filming, he traveled around the country promoting his anti-drug organization, the Kick Drugs Out of America Foundation. A lot of the money he raised was offering a few minutes of sparing on the mat with him at karate schools around the country. My friend Pete made a sizable donation to Norris' foundation, and he was able to spar with Norris for about 15 minutes. It actually ended when Norris hit him with a kick that knocked the breath out of him and put him flat on his back. Norris helped him up, and went on to the next man waiting to spar with him. Pete, (a 6'4" man in his early 30's) was okay, with only his pride injured from having a 50+ year old Norris put him down in spite of him holding two black belts. I asked Pete how big Norris was in person. He told me that Norris, who was barefoot, was the same height as me. I am 5'7" tall wearing sneakers. I'm pretty sure that Pete, at 6'3" tall, was pretty accurate judging the height of someone he's sparring with when both of them were barefoot. Norris is 5'7" tall, and no more. That's a fact.

That Jim Beaver quote is a great find. If he's accurate and truthful then the Air Force records should settle it and the 5'8.5" figure is completely believable and Beaver does accurately state Chuck's claim as opposed to someone like Kevin Sorbo falsely claiming Arnold claimed 6'3". It adds up with the 5'9" listings(with specific weights) from his Karate days and Chuck could seem more 5'8" range than a full 5'9" before he started wearing lifts if you look at him in various photos with Bruce Lee who only claimed 5'7.5" or remember him with Ron Silver in Silent Rage and remember a 65 year old Charles Bronson(whom I'm convinced actually was a full 5'9") looking more than an inch taller than Chuck. On the other hand, I don't think Chuck was shorter because he always appeared at least as tall as Van Damme and a 72 year old Chuck looked more than an inch taller than 5'9" listed(but also 5'8.5" in reality) Mario Lopez at the Expendables 2 premiere.

So yeah, 174 cm it is and probably closer to 172 now at 79, though Chuck was still looking more 172-173 range last I saw as opposed to 172 max.

So funny that Jim Beaver is quoted calling himself of “normal height” when he’s around 6 foot, and calling Chuck Norris “elfin” when he’s roughly average height-ish for an American adult male.

How did he get such a warped sense of scale? Kind of weird.
Canson said on 8/Sep/19
@Mon and Roderick: I think Rob has him listed appropriately at his peak height. He also was only slightly taller than Clarence Gilyard who was also “listed” 5’8”. Likely that the latter is under 5’8” by a bit as Norris had close to an inch on him (maybe 2cm). Either way Chuck isn’t 5’9 or 5’10.
Mon said on 31/Aug/19
There is much less than 2 inches between Norris and the the listed as 5'10'' karate champ Bill "Superfoot" Wallace (bodyguard/trainer of Elvis and John Belushi) without footwear in the kickboxing scenes of Force of one. Aso there are photos where he is posed with Norris in their Gis and bare feet and Chuck jokingly went up on his toes. So he knows they is a bit o' showbiz. Chuck is not under 5'8'' but he may well not be over it either because in the Gi and bare feet scene of Force of One he looks the same height as 5'8'' Jennifer O'Neill. Look at him in bare feet to judge.
Mon said on 13/Aug/19
As bit part goon in the Wrecking Crew right beside Elke Sommer (and Dean Martin) neither of them tall, Chuck looks smaller than 5'8'', he really does. With Lee in Way Of the Dragon he the big guy baddie but has training shoes on that have a heel on them while Lee has more or less ballet slippers.

In A Force Of One you can see him on the mats sparring barefoot and his legs are unusually short. I would say he needed a one inch heel to reach 5'8''.5.

@5'9": I mentioned this to Rob a while back, but he chose not to give him a current height because he hasn't had an acting role in years. Personally, I think he's done remarkably well too, but I'd give him 5'8.5" peak and possibly 5'7.75" current, but still a minimum 5'8" when he did the Expendables 2.
5'9 said on 27/Aug/17
I'm sure this one could use a peak height addition. I'd imagine Chuck Norris's workout has saved him from substantial height loss. But I think a half an inch height loss is still likely. 5'9" peak 5'8.5" current.
Rising - 174 cm said on 22/Aug/17
It's funny, so many go to extremes guessing Chuck's height. A lot of people saying either 5'10" or 5'7". Neither of which is believable, but the likely figure of 5'8.5" is the average of those 2 fallacious guesses. He could pass for taller, like here on the Arsenio Hall show, he looks like a 5'9" range guy: Click Here But despite the kick, those boots look fairly thick and may be helping him.

I don't think he wore lifts in most of his earlier films, but definitely on Walker Texas Ranger up until The Expendables 2 I think he was a chronic lift wearer. Seems like he may have started on occasion just before that late 80s/early 90s. But he's never been shorter than Van Damme even going all the way back to Missing in Action. Even in the pics I posted from Texas Motor Speedway last year, his boots, while not a heeled cowboy type look pretty thick overall. Although most probably wouldn't expect it, Chuck is clearly quite an image conscious guy with the toupee for decades and increasingly obvious plastic surgery in recent years. I mean no disrespect with these observations either as I'm a longtime fan, but those often seem to be the types to wear lifts.

But regardless, with Bruce Lee and the early films, 5'8.5" is right. Proportionately, he looked a lot shorter before he took to cowboy boots. Actually, even wearing cowboy boots in Lone Wolf McQuade, he gives a shorter impression, imo than on Walker. Even in the Total Gym commercials, there was never much of a difference between Chuck and Christie Brinkley, who is also around that height: Click Here
RisingForce said on 8/Jul/17
I agree, Rob, he did look taller at times, even up until the Expendables 2 and the premiere he could look in that range. The quotes above are verified by DiFabrizio also naming him as a lift wearer. The boots he wore on Walker had that thick sort of Burt Reynolds look: Click Here Same thing as recent as The Expendables 2 premiere: Click Here But he did have at least an inch on Mario Lopez in them and seemed to edge out Sly as well so I'd say still definitely 5'8" in 2012. If the fan photos are from Comic Con this year, then Chuck wore these sneakers instead of boots: Click Here

He looked shorter to me in earlier films and at some of the earlier events, perhaps until the late 80s/early 90s. 5'8.5" really seems spot on in early films. He looked proportionately shorter back then, but I don't think he was taller than Christie Brinkley either when they started doing those Total Gym infomercials.
Editor Rob
yeah I do believe at some stage he wore lifts. He might have been a guy who wore them for a few films and occasions.

I wouldn't be surprised if at the convention he did not long ago he wore either a cowboy boot or thick heel.
RisingForce said on 7/Jul/17
Thanks, Rob. 5'7.75"-5'8" currently was my thought as well. Not bad at all for a 77 year old to basically just drop from a strong 5'8" to a weak one. I consider him nowadays sort of a William Shatner type figure in terms of activity, but then I believe Shatner still does acting.
Editor Rob
at times Norris could pull off looking in the 5ft 9-9.5 range, but I feel it might have been cowboy boots that helped him.

I did see a few photos of him at a convention with Fans, and he didn't seem much under 5ft 8.
RisingForce said on 6/Jul/17
Rob, do you think a peak height is appropriate or not? On one hand he hasn't appeared in a film in 5 years, but on the other hand he still regularly does commercial, makes appearances such as Comic Con this year, does a lot of political commentary and activism and the Chuck Norris facts have kept his name recognition high. I'd be interested in how tall you think Chuck is these days regardless.
Editor Rob
I think a half to 3/4 loss by now is likely.

He may not be quite as invincible...but I felt since he stopped films I just left him with the peak height.

Hijopotamus, but our friend Pitt is clearly at least 179cm barefoot if you see him face to face with other actors because if you give to Pitt less 179/180 you must change Clooney's Height, or Matt Damon's Height.. Do you understand? and if Pitt is 179, George is 177 , Damon 174 and it is very low for their. I think Pitt is a solid 179, George 178, and Damon 177 not less.

About Norris never was 180 even his peak and I thought that he was. Cinema has many tricks and some actors have good look in screen.

for example Charles Bronson was other actor that had good looks in screen but he wasn't taller than 175 cm

All the pics I saw worth posting with 5'11"-5'11.5" Dennis Quaid: Click Here Click Here Click Here Click Here Click Here Click Here You see what I mean about posture varying, but unlike Norris, Quaid didn't have much footwear: Click Here

Maybe 5'7.75" current and 5'8.5" peak for Norris? He does still seem to have good posture for a man in his mid 70s, maybe why he hasn't lost as much height as many others his age. I do remember Chuck very similar to Ron Silver in Silent Rage as well.
RisingForce said on 2/Jul/17
Chuck may have finally shrunk. Definitely 5'8" max now, imo. Pics and video are from November 2016. Chuck's boots looked pretty thick: Click Here Click Here

With 5'7" listed Ryan Blaney: Click Here Video: Click Here
With maybe 5'9" Willie Robertson: Click Here Click Here (Not the best pics, but Robertson doesn't look much different with Trump than Pence does and it's difficult to see Chuck still as tall)

There are a bunch of photos with Dennis Quaid that day, but the height difference varies greatly, partially because Quaid's posture is up and down. I'll post them at another time, but Chuck goes from looking 5'8", maybe less in some to at least 5'9" in others, likely because of posture and camera placement. I'd say Chuck was still a more solid 5'8" even at 72 years old at the Expendables 2 premiere as he could pass for at least 5'9.5" or so in his custom cowboy boots. I really don't think Chuck was ever over 5'8.5" looking at his early appearances before he wore Burt Reynolds type cowboy boots so either way, Chuck has done quite well for a 76 year old(in those pics, now 77)

Btw, on the subject of Chuck Norris facts, Chuck reaffirms he likes them at the very end of that video with Blaney.
RisingForce said on 1/Jul/17
MJKoP, I said CHUCK can't be taller than 5'10" because HE claimed that height. Chuck is a known lift wearer and someone who would very obviously know his height. I never said anything about anyone else in that post.

You can find a rare exception to the rule of men under 6 feet. Most cases under 6' will probably be either someone who is young enough that they could have grown since their last measurement, someone who rarely goes to a doctor and perhaps a chronic sloucher. That would make up most cases. Then once you get over 6 feet, you'll have a few like Chris Pine and John Cena who are likely 6' and change and just round down, but still a minority. Finally, when you start getting into the really tall category, then you'll have more, particularly if being too tall can lose them work like a 6'3"+ actor in the 30s or 40s. Canson will back me up that I've said in the past there are exceptions to the rule. But a health conscious lift wearer well under 6 feet will almost certainly not be one of them.

As for Michael Jackson, I'm with Canson in that I don't believe he's over 5'9" and possibly the 5-8" range his makeup artist who is that height said he was. But for arguments sake, Jackson still was young enough at that time(26-27) as well where he could have possibly been using a slightly outdated height. I doubt it, especially with how much money he was worth to so many, he likely had physicals, but still not completely impossible at that age. Then on the other hand, Jackson was far from your typical person.

In the vast majority of cases, though, most people aren't shorter than they claim. I agree with Canson that the amount of people who inflate their height or use their height in shoes can warp perspectives and make an honest height seem taller.

Editor Rob
many of them were amusing, even Chuck finds it funny...
Canson said on 25/Jun/17
@MJKOP: agreed possible but I agree with Rising Force most men in general especially a shorter guy like Norris won't undersell his height. The problem is that most people inflate heights so people are confused as to what 5'9" looks like unless you have a reliable measuring stick or object or person. I don't know about Jackson but I believe his claim honestly. A 6'4.5 Michael Jordan was much taller than he was
MJKoP said on 22/Jun/17
@RisingForce - That is ridiculous to say someone can't possibly be taller than what they claim. Michael Jackson put 5'9" on his DL, but most agree he was taller. Chris Pine consistently claimed six foot even, but almost everyone believes he is over that. Even Mr. R who almost always swears celebs are at least a good inch shorter than Rob's listings insisted Pine was over 6'1" and pushing 6'2". Also a male celeb Rob met(I forget who) claimed to be a bit UNDER 5'11", but looked at least 5'11" with Rob, which is what he is listed as. And those are just a few examples off the top of my head.
5'11.25 at noon. said on 20/Jun/17

RisingForce said on 30/May/17
5'10" would obviously be the most Chuck could be because that's all he claimed to be and he appeared the same height as Van Damme because Van Damme was never taller than 5'9" and Chuck has worn lifts for years. There was not 3 inches between Chuck and Bruce either.

Similar footwear and Chuck doesn't look much more than an inch taller, maybe 3 cm: Click Here
Chuck is no more than 2" taller here, but has dress shoes that are a good 1"+ while Bruce seems pretty much barefoot: Click Here

I think Chuck could have been 5'8.5"-5'9", but I don't see him outside that range, same with Van Damme. Bruce I think had to have been somewhere from 5'7"-5'7.5". I'd like to see a good comparison of Chuck today to see if he's finally started shrinking noticeably because back when he did the Expendables 2 in his early 70s, he could still pass for 5'9.5"-5'10" in his lifts or elevator boots so I assume he had to have still been 5'8" at that time.
Frank R1 said on 17/May/17
Chuck Norris looked about 3 inches taller than Bruce Lee (5'7.5") in 'Way of the Dragon' (1971). I think his peak height was 5'10" at the shortest, not 5'8.5". He looked about the same height as Van Damme in 1998 when they both appeared at a WCW event.
RisingForce said on 3/May/17
Btw, here's Chuck's footwear from The Expendables 2 premiere: Click Here Click Here That's what he was wearing in the Mario Lopez interview and anything else you see from that night. Unfortunately, aside from the interview with Lopez there aren't any great comparisons of Chuck that night. Just some dodgy ones with Sly and Frank Stallone, Arnold and Randy Couture. But if Chuck was never more than 5'8.5"-5'9", how tall was he still at 72 years old at that premiere? Even considering his boots, presumably with lifts, it looks like he'd still have to be around 5'8" or so. Dolph Lundgren was still at least 6'3" at the time of the Expendables 2, maybe as tall as 6'3.5", but depending on Dolph's posture, Chuck pulled off at least over 5'9", maybe even 5'10" or so on set if Dolph isn't dropping that much height: Click Here Also, as I mentioned on Kean-Claude Van Damme's page, in several photos photos and videos spanning from 1984 to the late 90s/early 2000s, Chuck has always been as tall or taller than Van Damme when they've been next to each other. Either he wore lifts on all 3 occasions, Van Damme was a half inch shorter than listed or Chuck was a half inch taller than listed. All are possible, but it's really surprising to me that by age 72, it's very possible Chuck hadn't lost any noticeable height.

I once saw the live TV broadcast of Jean Claude Van Damme's trial. He was being sued by one of the stunt players who had lost an eye during a fight scene. The movie was the one where he is trying to save a girl who is actually a cyborg - not his best but I liked it.

He was poised and personable. In his testimony he mentioned that he wasn't real big. He said that it was better to not be too big in action movies. Now this page shows all the kung fu action stars on one page and they are all about the same size - roughly five eight. All these stars (Van Damme, Lee, Statham and Chan) are little guys. Why should that be?

I think it's the polar moment of inertia. That's the physical force which relates to rotation. Van Damme's famous 'helicopter kick' required his whole body to rotate around. If he were the size of one of the Klitchsko's, presumably he would rotate more slowly. Another reason may me the simple transmission speed their nerves. All nerve speeds are about the same but taller guys have longer nerves and thus have longer transmission speeds. So all things being equal a compact guy line Jackie Chan should be faster than Shaq O'Neill.

All this argues that there is an optimum size for a movie action star and it ain't too big.

for an average or small man, it is tougher - bigger bad guys etc, overcoming the odds. Maybe the average action star is a good vehicle, compared to the 6ft 4 action star...

He may have had a slight footwear advantage in the scenes with Bruce Lee for the Way Of the Dragon. I used to be very interested in martial arts and people I consider real fighters respected Chuck greatly. He seems to have little ego and good values. He was an actor and it was part of his job to look the part so saying he is shorter than the characters he portrayed is not diminishing him in any aspect that matters.

OK, as for his height he has a low to the ground build with a large enough head and upper body to carry off massive lifts. His legs always look surprisingly short in scenes where he has no dress shoes footwear such as the interesting sparring scenes in 'A Force of One'. When he is training the officially 5'8'' Jennifer O'Neal in that movie and they are in bare feet on the mat he looks if anything slightly shorter. Peak height was not over 5'8''.

I'm not quite sure what Adrienpoles assessment of Chuck Norris's fighting ability has to do with his height? Or how Norris would do in a fight against Bruce Lee? And it was so kind of him to not embarrass Chuck! As for Chuck's height - I was at a martial arts convention several years ago where he did a demonstration. After, Chuck posed for photos and my instructor of 25 years got a photo with Chuck. Both were barefoot. My instructor is 5'11. Chuck was no more than 1 and 1/2 inches shorter. As for adrion's criticism on Chucks abilities - My instructor of 25 years is Mike Genova. He's won "The Battle In
Atlanta" the Diamond Nationals" "Long Beach Internationals" and over 100 major tournaments. He was 10 and 1 in full contact as well. He sparred Chuck and he says that Chuck was a very strong fighter. Chuck Norris is only 5'7 at the most. he does wear lifts in his cowboy boots to give him extra height plus he reason he wears cowboy boots is because of the heel and the lifts work better in western boots. I have trained in Karate my entire life and also trained with several that trained and sparred with him. He is 1.5 years older than I am. I was in the Army serving on Okinawa after he got out of the Air Force. He did not learn Martial Arts here. I have several black belts in both Okinawa Kobudo weapons, Okinawan Shorin ryu, and Japanese Shotokan, as well as Iaido and Kendo. I have been mistaken for Chuck many times as we do share similiar Facial features. The difference is that I am 6'1 and in my fighting days in Karate, I averaged 215 to 235. Many people asked Chuck if he could beat Bruce Lee and he hedges on the question. I watched Bruce Lee in person and with out a doubt, Bruce Lee would have butchered Chuck. I always wanted to test Chuck myself but after watching him fight and get punched in the face and then whine like a little kid. I knew I did not want to embarrass him. I like Chuck so I am just setting the records straight. He is good at what he does but he has never been in a fight for his life. I have. 33 years as a cop and martial artist, I have walked the walk not talked the talk. He also sports a lot of body fat but he is an actor and actors can do anything.

RisingForce said on 5/Apr/14
Bruce Lee's own claim of 5'7.5" certainly doesn't help Chuck's 5'10" claim since he really didn't look much bigger than him. Also, in "Silent Rage", Chuck in cowboy boots is barely taller than Ron Silver who is listed at 5'8.5" here in the first indoors scene and more like an inch taller in the second indoors scene of the 2, but he's also shorter than Stephen Furst who Rob gives a peak height of 5'9.5", and Chuck may have had a footwear advantage. It's possible Chuck was never more than 5'8" and definitely never over 5'9", and the highest I'd argue is a weak 5'9". He's another guy who looked like he "grew" after his mid to late 40's, so I don't doubt the quote above about him wearing lifts or that DiFabrizio guy who made elevator shoes for Stallone, Burt Reynolds, Michael Douglas ect. who claimed Chuck was among his customers who wore lifts.

I highly doubt Chuck is only in the 5'7" range, but a 5'8"-5'8.5" guy with Chuck's build being mistaken for 5'7" is nothing unusual. Especially since people may have expected him to be bigger due to his tough guy image and the fact that he looked taller on "Walker Texas Ranger."

Or maybe the reason you didn't want to "test" him (As if you were somehow above him, and it is you who should do the testing to tell if he is worthy) was that Chuck was one of the top tournament fighters in his day. I have read an old martial arts magazine that had an article about the old days of Karate competitions, they asked all the top fighters of that era to list the fighters who they thought were the best, people like Joe Lewis, Allen Steen, Bob Wall etc. answered. Chuck was in all of their Top 3, often number one.
He won a lot of championships and tournaments back in the day, there is no doubt that he was one of the best Karate fighters out there.

But I guess you spared him from the embarrassment.

I also like how you had to put in the last sentiment about his bodyfat, and also your resentment at him being a succesfull actor.

I have never seen Chuck being fat in all his life, in his later years he has developed a bit of a beer belly, but for heaven's sake he's 73 and retired, he's earned the right to not be in top physical shape anymore.

Bobushido, I would like to see a recent picture of yourself, along with your official fighting record and copies of all of the articles and cover pictures of martial arts magazines that you have been in.

As far as Chuck's height goes, Id say peak height was close to 5'9, nowadays maybe closer to 5'7.

He was never the tallest guy, but the claims about him being 5'3 or something are nonsense.

There are a bunch of pictures and videos of him when he was young, barefoot and in sneakers, and he always looked like just a regular sized guy. No way was he under 5'8 when he was younger.

A good friend of mine who is a man of his word, once told me he met Chuck Norris when Chuck visited a US Navy ship he was on. My friend is 5ft. 7in. and stated he was looking at Chuck at the same eye level. I'd have to go with the majority here who claim he is 5 ft 7 to 8in.

bobushido you're full of crap. Norris was a 6 time world champion and retired undefeated. That's a fact. And you?
bobushido said on 16/Oct/13

Chuck Norris and Rob are one of a kind. The beard has special powers and they can be as tall as they want to be! Chuck and Rob's beards can cure a dying man just by a bristle on the cheeks! Hehe. Seriously though I thought he looked 2 inches taller than Bruce in the Colosseum fight and I thought 5'9"-5'9.5" was reasonable. I'd agree that he can look 5 ft 8 a lot though.

barefoot I don't think he looked that much taller than bruce lee, maybe chuck's martial arts training has helped minimise height loss to a small fraction?

In the Colosseum fight with Bruce Lee they were barefoot and Norris looked a good two inches taller, impossible that he could be under 5 ft 8. Are you implying Lee was only 5'5.5"?

Chuck's official fight stats list him at 5'10" and those heights are always barefoot. He may have shrunk considerably due to being 72, but then, I still wouldn't pick a fight with him. From 5'10" in his prime to 5'8.5" at 72 sounds about right.
Daverocks said on 3/Jan/12
I met Chuck at a topless bar many years ago. I'm nearly 6' 3" and can tell you he is definitely not 5' 10" and might barely be 5' 8". He definitely suffers from "little man syndrome".

he does look pretty short in the movies lifts or no lifts u can tell his height by the legs and upper torso

great actor and he is a pretty important figure in martial arts it does suck how the entire society judges each other by heights that chuck has to wear lifts to be treated right

Yes, just as I've said before, he prefers to wear cowboy boots. There was an episode of Walker Texas Ranger, when he was playing basketball with regular tennis sneakers on, and looked kinda short. He's not taller than 5ft8. Those boots give him a big raise.

Basically, pretty much all celebrities etc quote their "height in shoes" as their height, and they pretty much always have some form of enhancement such as lifts.

SO 5'8.5 and 5'10 in shoes.

If you think the Height he fought at is accurate then check the UFC Shain Carwin 6'5"
TexGal said on 2/Dec/10
I don't know about any of the other celebrities' heights, but I have been close to Chuck Norris at a karate tournament and he is a small man. I am 5'6" and, if I had to guess, I'd say he was 2 inches taller than me. There is no way he is 5'10".

As far a people comparing pictures and saying he looks taller/shorter than the other person in the picture, a lot can be done with photography and film to make people look taller or shorter so I don't think that means much. Find out the weight and height he fought at because that will be accurate.
