Catherine Shirriff's Height
5ft 11 ½ (181.6 cm)
Canadian actress and model, best known for playing Klingon Valkris in Star Trek III: The Search for Spock and for being a host of Ripley's Believe It or Not!
When I was modeling five or six years ago, you were supposed to be no taller than 5 feet 8 or 5 feet 9, so I put down 5 feet 10 - even though I think I'm actually 5 feet 11 ½. I can look either 5 feet 8 or 5 feet 11 ½ by either slouching a little or standing up by my very tallest.

I never heard of her before, but she is right. Just like in male modeling, sometimes taller people have to downgrade their height to get the job. One of the few jobs, where being too tall is not better! That being said, 5'8 is a big downgrade, I mean you can always look taller, but smaller is a lot harder! 3.5 inches is a lot to hide... An inch should be the most you can get away with, either which way. Rob, in the United States for women, what height would they start realizing they are pretty tall and maybe get more people glancing at them or deciding not to wear heels for fear of towering most men. I mean if 176 cm is the average for guys, than 5'11 for women would be the start of very tall.

Once they get over 5ft 7, I think 5ft 8 (especially for a women who wears heels) should start to feel tall, although once into 5ft 9 territory I think you now are sitting at the male average height, and taller than a high percentage of other women.
As for Catherine, I seen her in a few 70's guest spots like Wonder Woman and she looked roughly 5ft 11 from what i remember, I only saw her quote at random, but it's one of the more interesting quotes on height I found.
