Brian’s film ‘Red’ has to be his best to date.
All the man wanted was an apology from the three boys for the brutal murder of his beloved dog, Red. Only one boy does so, and if you watch his face during the slaughter of Red, you can see that he’s shocked and disgusted at the behaviour of his brother. It’s hard to comprehend that the two youngsters are related.
The boys’ parents definitely didn’t raise their kids properly, but the boy who does say sorry has a good heart. It doesn’t matter how many times I see it; I always end up feeling emotionally drained and in tears.
5ft8 peak and 5ft7 today.

I had no idea Brian was so funny and would loved to have seen him joking around with John Thaw while making the Morse episode Brian starred in.

That interview Brian gave on the Jonathan Ross show has answered my question. I thought I was developing a sore throat, but now I KNOW I have laughed my way there. Try and see it, folks! I saw it, purely by accident, in the early hours of the morning on Saturday the 8th April.
Happy Easter! 🤣🐥🥚

⭐️ The movie RED is showing tonight at 9 on the Legend/Horror channel.

🐕 It certainly was a very touching performance, Rob, about a very principled man.
Sandy Cowell said on 23/Jan/23
I’ve ordered myself a copy of Red.
Next time it shows on the Legend channel, I’ll be sure to let you all know. It’s OUTSTANDING. 🐕💕

I remember that movie, certainly one of Brian's many great performances over the decades.

The movie, Red, ends with Brian’s character receiving a new pup. He protests, saying he’s getting on, but the lovely lady who gives him the pup says, “Give her what you can.”
Brian feeds the trusting little animal and finally has a smile on his face. After hearing throughout the story about the devastation of a life that, through no fault of his own, has befallen him, he deserves some happiness, and at last, the tears in my eyes were ones of joy.
Yes, I do recommend this movie. It’ll release a rollercoaster of emotions within you.

I saw the outstanding movie Red this evening, a film I’d only seen once before and as it involves the murder of an animal - Brian’s beloved and faithful dog, named Red, I was in no hurry to see it again, but it was showing on the Legend/Horror channel, so I did.
Brian was excellent, and all he wanted was for the three teenage boys to see the error of their ways, but only one apologised, and it was the one whose brother did the shooting, and I noticed he had a horrified look on his face when the incident took place.
Brian spoke with a perfect American accent, and I remembered he was British, though not Scottish. He played a sad part in Inspector Morse as well.
5ft8.25 peak and an inch less today.

Rob, how does Cox look taller than Cage in Adaptation (2002). When I watched, I thought he was like 187cm.

Yeah, I looked at that scene again and thought either Cage must have been slouching or standing badly or something else on the ground was being used!

His part in the Inspector Morse episode 'Deadly Slumber' is such a sad one.
I saw this time round that Brian was shorter than John Thaw.
5ft7 today and 5ft8 peak
ViperPilot said on 18/Oct/21
He is surprisingly short, given the dominating characters he tends to play.

How tall is the other Brian Cox Rob?

Tall Sam said on 8/Aug/21
Sometimes he doesn’t even pull off a full inch over Kieran Culkin, could be heading for 5’6”.

Looks 168cm maybe 169cm peak.
Paul Wood said on 11/Jul/20
I have to disagree with some of the previous comments. In my opinion he was never 5ft 8in peak.

He’s shorter than Nicola Sturgeon!
Miss Sandy Cowell said on 25/Feb/20
Brian actually looks a bit taller than John Thaw in 'Inspector Morse', so he might have been wearing lifts.
5ft8 then; 5ft6.75 now!

rob if you think 5'7 is generous then why do you have him at that height?
Ajeto said on 18/May/09
Looked like a hobbit in The Bourne Supremacy. I give him 5'6" max.
Doug said on 16/May/09
I think 5'7" is indeed being way too generous. 5'6" MAX. . He was absolutely dwarfed by Steven Seagal and Keenan in Glimmer. By what looked like 9-10 inches.

He once described himself and his male relatives in an interview as all being short and barrel shaped.
MOF said on 5/Apr/06
Next to Tim Roth, John Hurt and Liam Neeson in Rob Roy he looks 5'5... Roth was taller by at least one inch, probably two and Neeson towered over him, he hardly reached Neesons's shoulder.
Ed said on 3/Jan/06
I suppose 5ft7 is accurate, but in Rob Roy there is a scene where Cox and Liam Neeson stand in a doorway together, and Neeson just looks huge next to him. Almost a foot taller. It seems as if cox comes up to his shoulders, maybe a little above. If Neeson stands 6ft4 that would be a difference of 9 inches. It looks more to me.
Bill said on 23/May/05
he was always descrided as 5-7 before he went to hollywood, he was when he did "Year of the Sex Olympics" in 1968 for BBCTV and he was only about 23 then.
