I saw Bill on Bless This House this morning. He knocked at Sidneyβs door, and looked a bit below Sidβs height - noticeable but not by a lot.

@ Paul Wood - Not long ago in Classic EastEnders, Bill's Arthur Fowler collapsed and died while tending his allotment. He was only 52 or 53 in the Soap, so I can't imagine he'll have been much more in real life, but it's still old enough to have lost a bit of height, but no way as much as a whole inch IMO.

In today's 'Classic EastEnders', Bill's Arthur Fowler decided to get ratted! He didn't do it in half measures either, and his laughter was extremely contagious! Let's just say, it wasn't exactly a height-enhancing experience from what I could see. He was staggering about all over the show!

He may well have been 5ft 7in peak but by the time he was in EastEnders, in his late fifties and sixties, I'd have said a fraction under. Whenever they have scenes together, he looks virtually the same height as 5ft 6.5in Sid Owen to me.

That was a sad Classic EastEnders episode.
Arthur, played by Bill, told wife, Pauline, about the affair he's been having and was famously hit with a frying pan, resulting in a bloody nose. Then the TV that his fancy woman bought for his little son, Mark, was smashed up by his angry wife. Many thought the whack with the frying pan was funny. Seeing it again after all these years, I don't think it was funny at all. A couple in turmoil is never a laughing matter. It's a kind of bereavement, because even if they do manage to stay together, things will never be quite the same again. π’
Then what about any kids the couple might have? They are the innocent victims.

Bill's Arthur Fowler's fancy woman phoned up his family home in the middle of the night to lure him over! She, Christine, pretended that there was an intruder in the house. What a load of cr@p!
It's only a matter of time before Pauline finds out about her too...π€ͺ
It's voting time for Bill again, so he gets another 5ft7, sexy beast that he is! π

What a nice guy Arthur is in 'EastEnders'! He has just taken in a homeless 'n' hungry teenage boy called Aiden. He's stuffing his young face for all he's worth! It's a shame more people don't follow Arthur's example....
The man isn't even wealthy, but you don't need material things to be rich of heart! π€

He he he! There was an 82-year-old woman trying to cop off with Arthur in today's vintage EastEnders! She asked him, "Are you married?"
He replied, "Yes, very married!"
She said, "Ah! Shame!"

On today's vintage EastEnders, the citizens of Albert Square were spreading rumours that Arthur was flogging off tomato plants as if he was pushing some kind of contraband. I didn't half laugh!

That's fantastic - thanks for giving Bill a page, Rob!
When I went hunting for Bill's height this time round, I actually found a far more believable 5ft7 instead of the 5ft8 I'd found on previous occasions. I thought, "That's more like it!" and, considering his marvellous 'EastEnders' performances, I thought it was time for him to have a page. Well, it's here, and I'm so pleased! With the repeats on the 'Drama' TV Channel, they'll be plenty of opportunities to compare and comment.

I wouldn't rule out completely the chance of a bit over 5ft 7.

@ Rob - Is 5'7" his peak height?
Editor Rob
It is possible he was a fraction taller, but as tall as 5ft 8 on Eastenders?
