Same WCW event.
Click Here Click Here Click Here Hogan’s leaning against the ropes which is why the front ropes don’t match up. Ron Reis is easily 350 lbs. here. ~ 6’8” Karl Malone is probably around 250-260 lbs. and looked skinny in the ring with Hogan.
When in WCW, Big Show told Jay Leno that he was 7'3". He also said on some British show several years ago that he was 7'1" at age 18. He usually says just 7 feet now, which is all I believe he ever was.

wight was shorter than ron reis in wcw (even reis said he was taller) and reis was no more than 7'1, in fact he doesn't even look that next to legit 6'2 louis theroux in that 1998 wrestling documentary, there is no way wight looked 8 inches taller than 6'5 billed roadblock in that staredown at world war 3 1996

Not always true. Pao Gasol and Andrew Bynum are a legit 7'0" barefoot and get listed at that height. Kareem was listed at his true barefoot height (7'2"). Mark Eaton (7'4") was too, as was Larry Bird (6'9"), Barkley (6'6"), Manute Bol and Muresan (7'7"), and some others from that era.
BTW Wichita State is a NCAA division one b-ball school, not a junior college. Big Show did play a year of junior college before transferring to Wichita State. His height at Wichita State may have been in shoes.

Big Show was at least 7'1" because he was measured @ 7'1" barefoot by Northern Oaklahoma Junior College. He continued to grow till the day he has his tumor removed and that was when he achieved his peak height. He's had back and knee surgery and his spine has probably taken a lot of damage over the decades in wrestling. He's still 7'0" after a long night's sleep. He may be as short as 6'11 1/4" after a long day. He's still a LEGIT 7 footer and was WELL WELL over 7 feet tall in his prime.
Do you have proof of such a measurement? Or are you just saying so, because he was listed at that height in college.
Big Show himself stated in a 2010-2011 interview that he’s the same height today as he was in college. So according to the man himself he has not lost height, so goodbye to that excuse. Unless Paul Wight is a liar or you know more about Wight's height than he does himself.
When Big Show made his WWE debut in 1999 (age 27) he was billed at 7 feet tall. Considering they gave him the moniker “Largest Athlete in the World” I kinda doubt they would list the guy below his actual height. They certainly exaggerated his weight, as Paul Wight didn’t weigh 500 lbs at the time.
And when did Big Show have back and knee surgery?

chris z those links do not "prove" Big Show was a legit 7'0" (although I believe he probably was and was taller than a peak Andre), as b-ball player heights can include their height in shoes. A 7'0" reference at age 16 could mean he was around 6'11" barefoot although he would still have a few more years of growth. A few posters here several years ago claimed that Big Show was listed at 6'11" in college and played forward - they just made this up to support their own height estimates for him and others.

Shaq i wud say is 6ft 11. i think he wud have the edge on dalip singh, dalip singh has a massive body due to bodybuilding and giantism but his height is around 6ft 10 barefoot. His wrestling boots and massive torso make him look bigger than he actually is. (height wise. WWe exagerrate the heights of the wrestlers bigtime, dont take any notice of what the commentators say, its all ****e. randy orton for example is around 6ft 2/3. That would put Nash around 6'9.5" and that's already pushing it. He mostly looks 6'9-6'9.5" in most of the pics/vids I've seen of him.

I remember that! Paul's weight has always been a guess too - I think low 400s is more accurate for him in 1998 and his WCW years. In WWF Unscripted, a book published by WWF in 2003, the wrestlers talked out of Kayfabe and he claimed 450 then. I think he hit close to 500 before he took his sabbatical and came back to fight Mayweather, where then he was back down to the low 400s. I'd see he's low 400s now

I would say hes probably lost an inch in reality but can look like he's lost more due to his weight and posture.

Big Show looks just as tall next to Kane as he did in 1999. I guess Kane has lost 2" since then aswell, and Undertaker...and Triple H.... and everyone else.
A 6"10 Show would put Shaq and Khali under 7"0, both are legit 7"1 guys.
I'd bet a lot of money he'd still measure at least 6"11 under the tape.

So w/ Show - I'd say he's still a good 6'11" if he stands fully straight, which he doesn't really do unless it's with a guy like Shaq or Khali.
And I believe at peak Show was easily a full 7'
This is not the first time, I exactly agree with you. I have peak Big Show at 7' and think, he has lost between 0.5" and 1" (certainly not more than that!). The difference between Shaq and him seems to be about 1.5" in my opinion.

Show is still 6"11.5 if he really arches his back out, he looked it with Shaq/Khali when he stood at his tallest, infact with Khali he looked 7"0. In the second segment with Shaq, Show never made the attempt to stand at his maximum, so for him to only look nearly 2 inches shorter still puts him above 6"11.
I honestly believe he was very close to 7"0 in his prime and has lost a little fraction (0.25") due to his weight, but nothing like 2 inches, thats absurd.

That's been brought up a lot here. Show did indeed have a big heel on his boots in the first segment. There was probably tops an 1" difference between the two at that point:
Click Here (if you pause between 3:51 and 3:52, you can see the heel)
But later in the night I think they had comparable footwear. Shaq had on a sneaker and shoe had on his wrestling boots but I dont think the heel on those were nearly as much as the ones he was wearing with the suit. There's closer to a 2" difference here I think:

When did you think he lost 2"-3"? Can't have been since 2006, since he has the same height advantage on Kane now as he did back then. He also doesn't look any shorter in person to Vegas in 2010 compared to 2001. His posture is definitely worse these days, but a potential ~3" height loss is a bit much IMO.

For what it's worth, Dean Hill is listed

Mark Henry. He also looked close to the same height as the Collector (Sylvest Terkay, who's listed at 6'6").

Click HereHere's a match from OVW 2000 in which at the end the Big Show appears to face Leviathan (better known as Batista). Batista is wearing some chunky boots, which had to boost his height to look close to that 6'7-6'8" billing he was getting in OVW.
When Big Show left the WWE in early August 2000 he also weighed around that 485 lbs. This is one month later and he probably hasn't lost any weight by then (which was the reason he was sent to OVW). Big Show looks heavier here than he does nowadays. Plus he had a lot more muscle mass back then.

When Big Show was weighed-in at 494 lbs on Smackdown in 2005 he was a lot fatter than he is nowadays. I don't think Big Show's weighs 485 lbs as the WWE is billing him at. He has gained some weight since he returned in early 2008 (he was weighed in at 441 lbs back then), so I'm guessing he's now somewhere in the 450-460 region.

It happens many times that someone simply makes this stuff up and mentions it on an internet board. And without providing the slightest bit of proof this story takes a life of it's own afterwards.

And it's funny that some posters here are claiming that Albert's boots must give Albert a 2" height boost. I guess Kane must be getting a 5" height boost from his as his boots look much more chunkier than Albert's (which look like standard wrestling boots to me).

But his room mate said he measured him at only 7' 4.5 " barefoot . Also I
heard from his friends that he took a picture with Alam Channa and Channa
almost had seven inches on him . He was very dissappointed with that picture
and never showed that picture to me or anyone . In the photo which he took
with Naseer , he had 1 inches footwear Advantage but Naseer still towered
over him by 5 inches . He was very angry for that photo too ! Even more
strange was the fact that he wasn't the tallest man in Dubai ! But he still

I doubt the Yeti was originally supposed to be Giant Gonzalez. The reason he had a high billing, was because Paul Wight was billed at 7' 4, and the Yeti appeared to be a couple inches taller than him, so obviously the Yeti's height had to be billed higher than 7' 4.
Kevin Nash was never taller than 6' 10. He himself has stated several times that he is 6' 10. I haven't once heard him say he is 6' 11. After Kevin Nash (at the time Diesel) left the WWF, I actually had a chance to talk to Shawn Michaels, and I actually flat out asked him how tall Kevin Nash his. He said Nash is 6' 10.5". I don't see why he'd lie, especially since he was billed at 7'.
Mamum: yes, I believe Randy Orton is legitimately 6' 4. He's taller than Batista, Hulk Hogan, and Edge. And he measures up to about the same area on the Big Show as Vegas' 6' 4" friend did. I don't you weren't impressed by his height, perhaps you have just grown numb to 7' people since you've seen plenty of them.

BTW the reasoning Yeti had such a tall billing was the fact that it was originally supposed to be Giant Gonzales as the Yeti not reis. Reis and show are both about 7'0.5 peak reis maybe 7'1.
Where did you get that information from? Giant Gonzalez retired from wrestling in 1994 and returned to Argentine, so I doubt they considered him to play the Yeti.
Danimal said on 10/Jun/09
Whatever height Nash comes out to next to Kareem in 1994, we already know that Big Show had 3" on Nash in 1996, so, we can gauge from there as to how tall Big Show was at his peak, with Nash having been minimum 6'10" (some even state 6'11").

Its more than possible that Show could be down to 6"11 today, any less is not possible. Big Show hasn't lost height through surgeries, but through posture problems caused by his weight.
Andre was 41 when he fought Hogan, and looked no more than a solid 6"10 at that point next to the 6"5.5 Hogan, Big Show is currently 37, just 4 years younger than Andre at that point and looks taller on TV in 2009 than Andre ever did in the 80's - when Andre was past his peak, which Big Show also is today.
Peak Big Show - 7"0.5
Current Big Show - 6"11.5 (Height loss 1 inch)
Peak Andre - 6"11.5/7"0
Past prime Andre - 6"10.5 (After surgeries)
(At death measured at 6"9.75)
Andre lost most of his height in the last 5-10 years of his career. Up until around 1980 he was at his peak of between 6"11 and 7"0.

thats not what i remember (and i saw that video 3-4 times over a 2 week period back in early 95), kareem and nash were side by side and kareem wasn't leaning from what i remember, the video on wwe tv showed kareem talking to nash for about 2-3 seconds then cut away
in the david robinson and nash video, nash was closer to the camera for sure
Mamun said on 9/Jun/09
I will now answer your questions my friends ! starting with Daniel_Sweden !
You have to remember that every time you talk about Andre's height , there
are two time frames ! One before 1976 to 1980 when Andre was still in his
prime and the other after 1983 when the whole world could see a different
Andre who is by now much slower and sloutching big time ! During Andre's
prime which was the 1976 era , I would say he was about 7' 0.5 " barefoot
and possibly 7' 1.5" out of bed . If you look at his youth pictures that
are Black & white you could see that this was no 6' 9" tall man . You could
easily see Andre was towering over everyone like a 7 footer would . Please
see the picture of him taken in Bagdad ( Iraq ) airport ! But Andre after
1983 was totally different . I would say and it is what everyone is saying
also that he was between 6'10" to 6' 11" in WM3 and before his death !
My friend Big Show , I have seen that video you were talking about and in
that meeting between Nash and Kareem ! Nash was much closer to the
camera and Kareem was leaning big time ! Inspite of that , Kareem still had
a good 5 inches on him ! Regarding way I would think about Paul White's was
less than 7 feet even when I was standing 5 rows of chairs away , well I base
my opinion from the great deal of time I spend with other tall people , like
my 6' 7" cousin ! Because I do spend great deal of time with him , if he were
to wear thick soled shoes and was standing 5 rows away , he wouldn't have
seemed that much less than Show . In other words , there is noway show would
tower over him if they were to meet !

I would say andre was at his peak in the range of 6'11-7'0 maybe 6'11.5 or even 7 feet barefoot at his peak in the morning...
or I'm wrong?
miko said on 9/Jun/09
Andre wore some HUGE cowboy boots in the 70's and 80's to look taller. Look at the Wilt ones, he's getting an easy 2" out of those. To say the Big Show is the only one to wear big footwear is wrong.
Big Show hasn't worn big footwear since WCW days, and then they were only 0.5" bigger than other wrestlers boots.
Big Show said on 9/Jun/09
Mamun were you impressed with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's height?
There must be a video segment between Kareem and Kevin Nash somewhere and people said that Kareem had Nash by 4 inches, which would mean he would not have been that much taller than Big Show.
How far were you away from the Big Show. 5 rows of chairs makes it sound like you were at least 7 or 8 feet away from him, which is hardly a good distance to gauge someone's height. I've stood 5 feet away from 6'4-6'5" people thinking they were the same height as me, but when they came closer the difference became much clearer.

Well my friend Kelso I will tell you this ; when my good friend RED did
an Andre the Giant comparison picture using Virgil as reference , I came
out to be a few inches below Andre's shoulder level . My friend RED is the
master of comparison photos and they are not biased at all unlike some posters
I come across Andre's site ! But when I stood quit close to Show ( I was only
5 rows of chairs away from him ) I quit didn't find my self being shorter
than his shoulder level . Infact Kane's shoulders and Show's shoulders seemed
almost the same level . The only thing that might give show the height
advantage would be his huge head . You can all see that in that recent photo
Kane took with Big Show . And I will post them shoe pictures . Please don't
tell me that Show's shoe thickness and Andre's nearly zero soles are the same ! They are not and never will be ! I have very good experience with
7 footers ! Becuase when I used to Live in the United Arab Emirates , 7' tall
men were a very common among people who came from countries like Sudan,
Somal and some parts of Pakistan and Arab. Some of my friends were 7 footers too .
That's why Show didn't look like a seven footer to me because from that
same distance my friends would simply tower over him !
Anyhow I promise to do my best to get that piture with Big Show even if it
means me jumping on him and getting into a confrontation with him . That
way if you all see me in the News about a Crazy fan jumping on Big Show
and getting arrested in the process , you might get some idea how tall
he is !

That clearly shows that those boots may look thick, but they don't give him any significant amount of height.

No doubt Show is around a solid 6-11 still...one has to keep in mind that posture with someone of his weight will be horrible...believe me I know how weight affects posture...this 6-9 stuff isn't plausible IMO...
Look, in the morning I awake and with enough sleep I stand just a shade under 6 feet, around 5-11.75. After being on my feet all day at work I shrink down to 5-10.5 at my lowest. Factor in bad posture to that 5-10.5 and I could probably pass for 5-9ish all hunched over, when really I'm a solid 5-11 guy. I know I'm rambling here but I hope my point is taken...

Also a 6'9 big show doesnt say much for khali. POSTURE, some people gain a lot of height by standing straight.

I'd say he was around 7 foot at his peak. He was listed 7'1 while playing basketball but I don't think he's that tall barefoot. WWE listed him at 7' in 1999 (which would be his peak) and I doubt they would list him as 'The largest athlete in the world' and than bill him below his actual height.
The tallest I would put Big Show at during his peak is 7'0.25" and the shortest 6'11.5".

I really don't think Wight wore lifts back in WCW. The soles of his shoes back then looked thinner than the ones he wears now. I think it has to do with having hair and he used to have great posture. Plus, I think WCW also went out of their way to make sure Wight never stood in the same ring as anyone who is even close to his height, other than Ron Reis.
But I remember after WCW dropped the whole Yeti angle, they never did let Reis be in the same ring as Wight ever again. And, I remember the commentators used to always make comments like, "This guy [Reis] is almost as tall as the Giant" or something they'd say, "This guy [Reis] is just about as tall as the Giant" and stuff like that. But even during that time, you could tell Reis was taller. And if Reis is 7' 1 or even 7' 2, then Wight was never 7' 1 in WCW because Reis looked like he was more than an inch taller than Wight.
They did the same to Kevin Nash. I remember once when the Outsiders attacked Ron Reis, Scott Hall attacked first while Nash was way off in the distance. When Hall got Reis down, that's when Nash conveniently started attacking too. This was because Nash was supposed to be the 2nd tallest guy in the company, when it reality he was the 3rd and Wight was the 2nd. Nash hanging off in the distance sort of reminds me of the Mayweather thing. Just about everyone suspected that one of Mayweather's body guards was taller than Wight, but of course, that body guard was the only person who was never "allowed" to approach Big Show. Probably because that bodyguard would have been taller than Wight which would make the entire fued look lame. It would have been better if that guy was never even allowed in the same right, but they made sure that guy stood on the other side of the right, and at the top left corner, so he was far from Big Show and he wasn't even in the same alignment. Making it impossible to get an accurate estimate on how the two measure up.
I don't think Big Show ever wore lifts in his career. Whenever he wore normal dressing shoes he didn't all of a sudden look much shorter than when he was in his wrestling gear. I think his match with Akebono at Wrestlemania 2005 shot down any rumours of Big Show wearing lifts, as the difference between them looked virtually the same as when they appeared together in the ring and Big Show was in his ring gear. Big Show wore big soles (I believe someone here ones provided proof that the soles were 1.25"), but that's not the same as lifts.
The reason they never put Reis and The Giant in the same ring might have something to do with The Giant being billed 2 inches taller, but then again he was billed at 6 inches taller than Nash and everyone could see that this wasn't the case.
Reis and The Giant did appear in the same ring together at the PPV World War 3, but they didn't stand side by side.
Comments like 'This guy is almost as tall as the Giant' weren't uncommon in WCW. They said the same thing about Wrath (Bryan Clark) and he was only 6'5".
When Nash and Hogan (not sure if Scott Hall was involved aswell) attacked Ron Reis, Ron Reis stood side by side next to Hogan, but I can't say that Reis appeared any taller next to Hogan than The Giant did.
There should also be a picture somewhere of Reis and Big John Studd and Reis also had a tag-team match with Tenta somewhere in 1996 on WCW Saturday Night.
I'd like to see how Reis measured up against those guys.

Danimal: I'd really like to believe that.

Hey guys, just curious as to how you think Matt Morgan from TNA would stack up with the big men from WWE...Show, Taker, Kane and Khali. If there are any pics out there, post them.
Big Show was around 3-3.5 inches taller than Morgan. Morgan was virtually the same height as Nathan Jones (who was taller than The Undertaker).
In late 2003 there was a superheavyweight team consisting of Big Show, Matt Morgan, Brock Lesnar, Nathan Jones and Albert. There are multiple videos available of them.
There's also a pic on the net where Morgan stands next to 6'8 Akebono and Morgan looks several inches taller.
Morgan was billed 6'10" in WWE. I believe TNA bills him at 7'1" (not sure as I never watch that show).

"reis was ncaa listed at 7'1, same as paul wight and both around the same time"
They may have both been listed the same height in basketball, but Reis is still definitely the taller of the two. The height difference is obvious. Plus, let's not forget that Shaq is also listed at 7' 1, and Shaq proved to be as tall as Khali, and Khali is definitely taller than the Big Show.
Of course, it is possible that Show did lose some height. But honestly, he doesn't look any taller to me back in his WCW days. If he did lose height, then I can't really see it. I saw a segment of him and Nash once (I think it was back in 2002) and he still had his normal 3 inches over Nash. So if he did lose height, it had to have been after 2002.
And it was.

Wasn'r reis 7'2.. I remember the Lois Theroux show where he followed wrestleing and trained at the wcw powerplant and there looked to be a ft between them...
Ron Reis was listed as 7'1 while playing College Basketball. I doubt he was taller than that.

Andre the Giant: Ron Reis was over 7' legit. But I was talking about the WWF, not WCW.

If Jim Duggan was 6'3", then Ted Dibiase was at least 6'4", seeing he had 1-1.5" on Jim Duggan (at the 20 second mark):

why couldn't andre be 7 feet at his peak or 6'11.5 he simply towers over 6 feet guys he could easily be one foot taller than them..andre dwarfes guys like Ric Flair, Roddy Piper,Bret Hart (all of them was around 6'0 at their peak) He towers over Warrior (6'1-6'1.5) and Duggan (6'2)
Again, someone with great logic. Don't foget 6' tall Macho Man. He DWARFED him. Also, Duggan was/is 6'3". And I always found it odd how much taller an old Andre looked next to Jake Roberts then he looked next to Hogan. Andre always looked 7" taller than Jake...or at least 6". My final estimates for Andre are as follows: 7'0"peak 6'11-6'11.5"after back surgery 6'10-6'10.5"at death

it's that a legit 7-foot man is EXTREMELY rare to come by. I'm beginning to think that the WWF ever only had 3: Khali, Gonzalez and Silva
How about Ron Reis billed as (Big Ron Studd and Resse in Raven's flock)back in the wcw days. He was billed as 7'3 but he was taller than Big Show..Big Show or back then in WCW billed as the Giant at 7'4 and at most 552 pounds. Ron Reis was taller so could he be a legit 7 feet man?

"who ever you are topdweed. it's just my opinion, i could be wrong. i do like to watch wrestling, and as far as i'm concerned. paul wight is 6 ft 10 maybe 6 ft 11. that's what his university listed him at."
And whoever you are mike, it's been documented countless times now that Paul Wight was listed as 7' 1 at his University. Give us any documentation at all for your claim; others like Vegas and Big Show (the user) have given documented proof several times that Wight was listed as 7' 1.
As for Khali, he stood dead even with 7' 1 Shaq. I'm sorry, you're entitled to your opinion, just as many people are entitled to wrong opinions.

Big Show was listed at 7'1 at his University (Wichita State University).
Click HereAs for the 6'11.5" listing of Singh. Never seen any evidence of that either. It's probably made up, just like the supposed 6'11" listing of Big Show.

Hercules was at least 6'0", if not 6'1".
Alex said on 20/May/09
Hercules doesn't look as tall as 6'2 to me. Back in the day I wouldn't have questioned it but looking at older tapes I could have guessed 6'0 tops for him.
topdweeb said on 19/May/09
Boss: in some of those pics, he certainly does look to be as tall as the Big Show. Thanks for providing the pics... this is how it should be done in the first place, not like Marble who simply throws a tantrum because someone disagrees with him.
By the way, does anyone remember Hercules Hernandez? I talk to his daughter sometimes, and she tells me that he was 6' 2. Is that even a possibility? I always thought he was more 5' 10. She has a lot of respect for her dad and might be holding on to kayfabe..

I heard Big Show was 530lbs leaving WWE in late 2006. Could have gained more weight after for all we know. Andre I read several times died at 530lbs. Andre did look his biggest at WM 6 so maybe he was around 550lbs and then lost weight by his death?
