Again, I’m watching a later Van Der Valk, early 90s, he’s 15 years older here. He looks very short, not more than 5’6”
Still has that ridiculous perm, though it’s grey, not yellow !

Just watching him right now as Van der Valk. He looks short, and I just noticed he’s wearing 2 or 2.5 inch heels !

Barry was about half an inch shorter than John Thaw, when they appeared together nose to nose, in a 1989 episode of Inspector Morse, Barry would have been 60/61 at the time. John Thaw was no more than 5'7 and a half, so Barry was 5'7 max.

@Rob, how tall was he in his prime (peak)?
Editor Rob
well I think this listing was his peak, sadly he passed away a few years ago.

Rob, could you please add Inspector Clouseau to Foster's credits?
I thought Foster could have been 5'8" or even 5'9", as there seemed only 1-2 inches between him and 5'10" Jon Finch in Frenzy. As I thought Foster seemed the same height as 5'8" Frank Finlay in Inspector Clouseau, I would ultimately go with 5'8" for Foster. I don't think he was anything under 5'8".

Definitely Sam. That and Karl Bohm's role in Peeping Tom are right up there with the creepiest film performances.

This guy gave me the creeps after Frenzy, in that he was an effective murderous little cretin.
