Ann Miller's Height
5ft 6 ½ (168.9 cm)
American Actress, best remembered for films like Easter Parade, Kiss me Kate, On the Town and Mulholland Drive. In a 2002 Dance Magazine interview, she said
"I was 5' 7", but time marched on and now I'm 5' 3'. If I [had been] the height I am now, I could have danced with Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire."
I was really too tall for [Fred]. I had to wear ballet slippers and when the dress flares out during our number, 'It Only Happens When I Dance with You,' you can see them. Now I've shrunk an inch and a half and would be the perfect height for either Fred or Gene Kelly. Cyd Charisse was the same height I was and so was Rita Hayworth.

how did she lose so much height?
Editor Rob
Looking at photos in her late 70's I can see why she lost several inches, her upper neck and back looked quite curved/worn.

I believe she may have lost as mush as 7 inches. Her peak height is around 5'6"

Having just seen Ann in 1953's "Kiss Me Kate", I'd now like to upgrade her to 5'8" in her MGM days. Early in the movie she does a dance routine around Howard Keel and near 5'11" Ron Randell (based on Keel's 6'4"), and wearing heels, has to be peaking at 5'11". I think Ann lost height as she aged, so it was easier to give her the 5'7" publicity tag in retrospect.

Ann seemed a legit 5'7" in her MGM days, and with heels, could be a near 5'10" companion for 6'4" Howard Keel and 6'2" Red Skelton in their movies together.

She said in a 2003 program '100 Greatest Musicals' in relation to Easter Parade, 'At the time I was 5ft 6 and a half'....and paraphrasing: 'Fred Astaire was 5ft 7 and I done dancing in ballerina shoes'
