Scottish actor, best known for TV series Taggart. In film he appeared in The Count of Monte Cristo, Beautiful Creatures, Local Hero, Patriot Games and Comfort and Joy.

The most challenging and exciting historic character I've ever played, though, has to be Napoleon Bonaparte. I've played the great man three times so far - once in Murray Grigor's wild and wacky film Scotch Myths, once with Leslie Nielsen in a crazy TV commercial for a Dutch telephone company, and finally - and for real - in director Kevin Reynolds' 2002 Hollywood blockbuster The Count of Monte Cristo. For that, I really did my homework, learning to my surprise that at five foot six and a half inches, Napoleon and I were the exactly the same height.
