Alex 'Hurricane' Higgins was a Northern Irish professional Snooker player, a twice winner of the World Championship.
In the Telegraph he mentioned his height: "Every sport's the same. Snooker's no different. It's all about balance. And I could stretch. I'm five eight, five nine, but I could get there. I'd lean across the table and make those shots. Nowadays they add all sorts of bits to the cue, make them longer, use the rests. To me, that's taking the challenge out of it."

Alex higgins was the greatest player i have ever seen. I thank God i was lucky enough to have watched alex during the early to late 1980s when he was just brilliant! Alex was a supporters joy, becouse of his style of play. He was fast, had great skill, flair, brave, showmanship, he was a great safety player and maybe the best at that time! alex could and should have won more titles if he had played for himself and not to the crowd. Like the 1980 world championship final alex was leading thorburn 14-8 a think it was? And he was playing brilliant, he really had it won. But barry hearn said "alex started to play to the crowd becouse he was 5 or 6 frames ahead and felt he had it won. But you never do that against a man like cliff who was a great player to, a mean he didnt get to the final by merit, so cliff pulled it back to 16-16 all then won the last two frames! Alex would have won it if he kept playing for himself becouse he was by then on a different level talent wise to cliff, but he went for crazy shots. So i would say alex was 5'8" he never looked a big guy! Rip alex

And his safety play worried him more than anything else, becouse he was so good at thincking 5 shots ahead, and in 1 match i snookerd alex 4 times in a row and then not only did alex get out of the snookers 4 times in a row but he snookerd me back 4 times. Inside i was thincking that was absolutley fantastic, but i couldnt show it and say thats fantastic alex it really was. Alex when on form was the best safety player ive played against, he was just so good. And it was a part of his game that was rarely spoke about" so i wouldv said alex was 5'8"
