Rob, maybe 6'0.5" would be a more appropriate peak height figure?
Vigoda still looked comfortably over six-feet in The Godfather even though his slouching had already begun to take effect.

6ft4 looked believable to me at first because he was easily the tallest guy in The Godfather after from 6ft6 Lenny Montana. No one really knew short that cast was though.

Weird that he was once listed at 6'5". He does looks taller than average in The Godfather but was probably close to 6'1". Could you add credits like The Godfather Part I and II, Look Who's Talking (an equal cinematic masterpiece ;=))and Barney Miller?

I saw him on the street recently in NY. He seemed like a formerly tall man. Isn't in his 90s now? From the general size of his body, you could tell he was about 6'1" in his youth, even with that perpetual hunch. I'd say 5'10" now, yeah.

lost lot of height,today he's 90,closer to 5'9 but due to the hunch he looks even shorter.here's a pic with kim fields who must be 5'3 tops with heels on.

Abe Vigoda is an excellent example of how men (and women) lose height. You don't start with perfect Duke of Windsor ram rod straight posture and then just become a minature version of yourself as the years go by. No, not at all. Your posture changes. Your back curves more and your neck curves more. Instead of your head sitting right on top of your neck, it pitches forward and then bends up again. Alan Simpson the former US Senator who used to be 6'7" shows this phenomenon very clearly. So does Abe Vigoda. His head sits well in front of his shoulders. However tall he is today he was taller yet when he could still stand up straight.

He was 6ft2 at his peak. Besides Marlon Brando in the godfather you can see a difference of at least 10 cm.

Posture makes this guy look much taller than he is. You can observe a similar effect with Stewart in Vertigo - he looks much taller than 6'3" because of his weight, movement, and suit. In NY NY, they'll tell you this guy is 5'11, he may be less now but he was never taller.

Well, here's a guy with inconsistant height reports. I've seen 6'6"/198 cm and 6'4"/193 cm for instance. Interestingly, on Late Night with Conan O'Brien, there once was a Christmas sketch where he was used in a Christmas tree like manner, and he was referred to as "Six foot tall Abe Vigoda". Certainly some of the extras were taller than him – some of them considerably – making reports of 190+ cm VERY hard to believe.
